Don't be tricked by "released" drivers. Go ahead and try to use the ATI drivers with Open GL. or two monitors. Both companies drivers were pretty bad out of the gate, and they are both getting better... Then again if every company that writes a driver has problem, the blame may belong somewhere else

Maybe I don't like Battlefield 2? Anyway, I'm sure that Nvidia is going to look at it. One month from bug report to a fix online seems pretty fast to me.
Hmm... drivers refusing to unpack has always been a sign of a virus to me. Are you running any virus scanning software?
Reboot is a bugcheck. The hang with the audio first means it's most likely a bugcheck EA. Odds are your video card is overheating or is generally unhappy. Look in your windows\system32 directory for a memory.dmp I can't help much with ATI video cards, but you can e-mail it to me and I can at least tell you what piece of hardware is bad/causing the crash. (See my other posts for my e-mail address)
Do you have broadband? Please send me the MEMORY.DMP file in your Windows directory and I'll try to resolve your issue with the Nvidia drivers. hhoppert at qwest dot net. Move this to e-mail until we can get it resolved. (BTW: I'll make this offer to anyone seeing BSODs in nv4_disp or nv4_mini on GALCIV, I'd be happy to take a look) My random guess is that your fan on your video card has died and galciv causes it to overheat. There are textures on the planets? I always play in icon mode.... If you want pretty planets, download celestia. You'll never need a telescope again.
What does annoy me about the xbox 360 and xbox- is that it runs games via direct x - which is the same as on the pc, but they won't allow pc users to use x-box games, Which is a shame as most people have spent large amounts of money on a high end pc. As there are a few games that i would want to play on the pc that are out on the xbox 360. This is absolutely not true. The XBox uses a very modified version of DX that is basically not compatible at all with PCs.

So it appears that if you ever get your civ into serious debt (via not paying loans or a massive upgrade) The most your civ can be in debt is -2000bc. Is this intentional? I've done a ship upgrade that put me 100,000 in the red and the next turn it was magically -2000.
Easy exploit/bug (unless I'm missing something) Build a bunch (10-20) medium or Large hulls (just an empty hull) then upgrade them all to your best equipement. This will cost you anywhere from 30K-100K. Don't worry. The next turn you'll be at -2000 credits. Seems like a bug unless there is something else going on that I don't understand.
