I thought I felt Fred's ear burning.... Most of the icons for Fred use fonts such as Webdings\Wingdings\etc and I saved the PSD so that the example icon is still a font. So if I may add on to CerebroJD's Fred tutorial, you would simply have to the "Globe" in the PSD with your text tool, change the font to whatever your heart desires and then type the letter M. This way you keep the gradient that is applied to the font and the illusion that it is underneath the glass-like-substance rema

What steps are you taking to try to save your image? It might help us diagnose the problem. For instance, just now I did: - Image > Mode > Indexed Color - Typed in 16 in the "Colors" box - File > Save as - Choose BMP format - Clicked the 4-bit radio box and it saved as a 4-bit image. If this is for a bootscreen, I don't know if this method will work. I've read that even though it's a 4-bit image, boots are rather picky about what image they will accept.

Tealfan (GO SHARKS!), as soon as you submit your first work and read the comments that follow, you'll be hooked. This place is worse than heroin. And how dare you use Fred. What did he ever do to you?
I guess it's up to interpretation since I see Xav's skin as violating intellectual property rights. It's definitely a top ten skin, and if he drew Agent 47, 77, 8675309 or whatever his name is, then I stand corrected. But it seems like the images, logos, etc were used from their original source. I guess my question is, where is the line drawn between fan-art and copyright violations. The way I'm handling that issue is, the skin itself will have elements that I create that are similar in
Oh sure, you're happy now. But before you now it, you're skinning anything that moves. You'll be driving down the road, see a nice motorcycle and two weeks later you're releasing a set of icons covered in a rediculous amount of flametips and wondering how you can get your microwave to stop looking so Luna-ish. CARE BEARS!!!!! ALL I SEE ARE CARE BEARS!!!!! HELP ME!!!! I've got a chameleon on my back!!! But seriously, welcome to Wincustomize. *twitch* It's loads
I'll do it! But if I'm unable to get my daughter away from the computer afterwards, you'll be hearing from me. But where does this fall under the copyright rules. If I'm thinking correctly, it would instantly be rejected and I wouldn't even be allowed to send it to the Lisa Amerson without violating some sort of law? If this is correct, then no I will not do it and Lisa please contact me via email. Not that I'll do it, just sayin'...
I'm a starving web designer. All in all, skinning XP and desinging websites are very similar. I justify all the time I spend in skinstudio as "honing my skills and preventing myself from getting rusty".
On the topic of Objectdock, I wouldn't mind seeing the ability to reserve the desktop space that the dock occupies. I'm the kinda person that tends to stockpile icons on the desktop from time to time and I'm constantly fishing icons out from under the dock.
I wouldn't mind seeing adequate translucency support on the start menu too.
I'd like to see the next version of Windowblinds make me coffee and a bagel in the morning and do my work for me while I spend all my time skinning.
Found the problem. When I uninstalled, I assumed it deleted the folder but instead it left a couple files behind, including the corrupted INI file. All's well now. Thanks for your help.
1.02 and I backed up my PNGs and ICOs, if that's what you mean, but nothing else.
Yep, using XP Home now.
Well it's a clean install of ObjectDock so I'm starting it after boot. As for what crashes Explorer, your guess is as good as mine. It crashes periodically and always has dating back to Win95. I've just stopped worrying about it.
Being a Windows user, I'm quite use to explorer crashing and what not but after one particular crash, ObjectDock doesn't want to start up anymore. I've uninstalled and re-installed a couple times but each time I launch it I get this: ObjectDock has recovered settings from previous to a recent crash while saving, some of your most recent changes might not have save

Found it. Menus> Bar items> toolbar like> Text Colors> Disabled Color
The particular shade of gray that it turns to doesn't even appear in the classic colors section.
One more questions. I added a button that I only want to show when the window is set to "Always on Top". Problem is, the button doesn't show right away. The user either has to mouse-over where the button is located or focus on another window before the butotn pops up. Anyway to fix that?
Stop battling.
