No background sound

I have loaded the game and began to attempt to learn how to play it. However, there is no music or sound so far.

I have an onboard Soundmax card.

The multimedia file is directly below GC2 in the games list of Stardock Central. You install it just like you installed the main game files.

Also, check your sound settings in the game. It seems that Beta4a installs them set to off.

I did not download the game I bought it from a store. I installed the 1.4 patch and I have no sound. SO how can I fix that? Do I have to download the multimedia files as well and if so from where?
