XP Won't Shutdown

I recently purchased Object Desktop. When I load DesktopX and WindowBlinds, I am unable to shut down Windows XP properly. It just hangs on the "Saving Settings" step. Eventually, I get various errors loading and have to struggle to do a System Restore back to before I applied DesktopX and WindowBlinds. Anyone know what's causing this? I've seen some notes about certain anti-virus software wreaking havoc. What anti-virus software can be used successfully?

I have norton2003 av & have also been using/trying out AVG - both with no problems.

Which AV do you have?

Did you turn off the AV prior to installing?

Alden,

Have you tried unloading one of the programs before shutting down to isolate the program (i.e., unload DesktopX prior to Windows turn off - see how that goes, then try unload WindowBlinds prior to Windows turn off)?

It may just be one of the programs.

I run WindowBlinds, IconPackager, and ObjectDock without issue on Windows XP Pro without issue. I also use Norton Internet Security Pro 2003 (which includes the Norton AV Pro).

My system does not get along well with DX 3, so I no longer use Widgets - but I think I am in the minority, most people seem to run DX 3 with no issues.

I'm using AVK anti-virus which has 2 different sets of virus checkers. Istill have an active McAfee subscription that I can load and try instead. I've been shutting down both DesktopX and WindowBlinds to get a shutdown. Next time I have the problem, I'll try just one at a time and see if I can better isolate the problem. Thanks to all for feedback.

Hi,I've used norton and macafee. Both work fine for me.I've had simalar problems with my system.Although my system works fine running dx3,with dx2 versions,I Had to save all inprocess work sometimes and shut it down in running mode, Not In development mode or I would have occasional problems.Mostly depending on what I was doing when I shut it down.
I hope this helps good luck.

P.S.
I forgot to mention,If you save, say an object,I usually delete the object original from my desktop then load the saved version and then save my desktop and then reduce to running mode and then shutdown so it will reload as a saved desktop. Not a desktop I'm working on.
