Ok, So You're a Satanist?

Maybe so...?

Via my wife the Quiz Queen... In truth it was a toss up decided by a tie breaker question that landed me as a Satanist rather than an Atheist or Agnostic. If you asked me how *I* would characterize myself I would say Agnostic...

You scored as Satanism. Your beliefs most closely resemble those of Satanism! Before you scream, do a bit of research on it. To be a Satanist, you don't actually have to believe in Satan. Satanism generally focuses upon the spiritual advancement of the self, rather than upon submission to a deity or a set of moral codes. Do some research if you immediately think of the satanic cult stereotype. Your beliefs may also resemble those of earth-based religions such as paganism.

You scored as Christianity. Your views are most similar to those of Christianity. Do more research on Christianity and possibly consider being baptized and accepting Jesus, if you aren't already Christian.

Christianity is the second of the Abrahamic faiths; it follows Judaism and is followed by Islam. It differs in its belief of Jesus, as not a prophet nor historical figure, but as God in human form. The Holy Trinity is the concept that God takes three forms: the Father, the Son (Jesus), and the Holy Ghost (sometimes called Holy Spirit). Jesus taught the idea of instead of seeking revenge, one should love his or her neighbors and enemies. Christians believe that Jesus died on the cross to save humankind and forgive people's sins.

You scored as Buddhism. Your beliefs most closely resemble those of Buddhism. Do more research on Buddhism and possibly consider becoming Buddhist, if you are not already.

In Buddhism, there are Four Noble Truths: (1) Life is suffering. (2) All suffering is caused by ignorance of the nature of reality and the craving, attachment, and grasping that result from such ignorance. (3) Suffering can be ended by overcoming ignorance and attachment. (4) The path to the suppression of suffering is the Noble Eightfold Path, which consists of right views, right intention, right speech, right action, right livelihood, right effort, right-mindedness, and right contemplation. These eight are usually divided into three categories that base the Buddhist faith: morality, wisdom, and samadhi, or concentration. In Buddhism, there is no hierarchy, nor caste system; the Buddha taught that one's spiritual worth is not based on birth.

Just for the record I am NOT a buddist. I have my own thing I make up as I go along. Interesting test though.

Baker - I'm shocked!

Toblerone - Well I'm not exactly a Satanist either but I agree that the test is amusing...

You scored as Hinduism. Your beliefs most closely resemble those of Hinduism. Do more research on Hinduism and possibly consider becoming an Untouchable, if you are not already.

Hinduism divides society into four major hereditary classes: (1) the Brahmin (priestly and learned class); (2) the Kshatriya (military, professional, ruling, and governing occupations); (3) the Vaishya (landowners, merchants, and business occupations); and (4) the Sudra (artisans, laborers, and peasants). Below the Sudra was a fifth group, the Untouchables (lowest menial occupations and no social standing).

You scored as agnosticism. You are an agnostic. Though it is generally taken that agnostics neither believe nor disbelieve in God, it is possible to be a theist or atheist in addition to an agnostic. Agnostics don't believe it is possible to prove the existence of God (nor lack thereof).

Agnosticism is a philosophy that God's existence cannot be proven. Some say it is possible to be agnostic and follow a religion; however, one cannot be a devout believer if he or she does not truly believe.

Argh, sorry for the double post. I was interested to see that it rated Buddhism so close to Agnosticism (which pretty much represents my outlook on religion and God).

Yes, have you figured out where to find the login screen? Or where to find Google? Ask the Swedish Academy to translate it for you.
yeah, I tied atheism and satanism 100%, too.
Well so much for a religious outlook determining your politics then
Argh, sorry for the double post
No worries, I fixed it.

No surprises here. While I am a Christian, there's a great deal of affinity for Eastern thought in my life philosophy, and I also have a great deal of attachment to my Jewish roots (which aren't as different from Islam as many would have you believe).

That being said, some of the questions were FAR too limiting!

You scored as atheism. You are... an atheist, though you probably already knew this. Also, you probably have several people praying daily for your soul. Instead of simply being "nonreligious," atheists strongly believe in the lack of existence of a higher being, or God.

You scored as Islam.

Your beliefs are most similar to those of Islam. Do more research on Islam and possibly consider taking the shahadah and officially becoming a Muslim, if you aren't already. Despite the actions of some - who go against the teachings of Islam - Islam is a religion of peace; the word "islam" means "peace through submission to God." "Muslim" means "one who submits to God." Islam is the third of the three Abrahamic faiths, and it shares much with Judaism in Christianity; its differences are the acceptance of Muhammad as the last and final prophet, and the oneness of God - in other words, that Jesus, though he was a revered prophet, was not in fact God, and only one God exists. Apparently the Taliban could not read (though their name means "students"), because the Qur'an states that men and women are equal as believers, and that all believers should be educated and seek knowledge. Modesty in dress and behavior is required in Islam for both men and women to preserve the values of society and move the emphasis from superificial appearance to intelligence, knowledge, and God.

Wow, interesting quiz. I'm not into Buddhism but it seems I think along those lines. I'm christian by religion so that's certainly interesting.

It seems to me that since Buddhism has the highest scores a lot of people think this way....mmmm...something to ponder. Maybe Dharma can possibly explain more about why this is?

Not many people are going to be surprised by their main result, are they?

The secondary categories may be more interesting. For instance, why did BakerStreet get 58% Islam, while I got 50% Jewish? My Islam score is a paltry 29%, and Buddhism a surprisingly low 33%. The results make anything other than Christianity and Judaism look insignificant to me, which I'm not sure I'd agree with.

Exploring those subtle variations of belief could prove interesting.

Well, Buddhist principles and the Christian message have more in common than most people realize...or as 'yall are just now finding out, huh?
Biddhism isn't theistic and is much less dogmatic...but some of the basics are the same. Love, tolerance, compassion...the thought that your wrongs will come back to you one day, be it through Karma (Buddhism) or Judgement (Christianity).
However, just as there are similarities, there are differences...the lack of (or presence of, whichever way you want to look at it) a God is the biggest one.

I'm unsurprised by the first and last places. It does make me worry more about my friend Greywar, though (and wonder, slightly, how he's such a good guy, at least IMO). I'm also unsurprised about my generally low score in everything; it fits.
