New Version Issues

I just installed the latest update to Stardock Central and now I am receiving an error telling me that my OD subscription has expired; however, according to the registration information I have it does not expire until 6 November 2005.

Have I installed this incorrectly? Is there a fix?

Thanks!

No problems here.

I had the same problems for 2 days. Things finally kicked in and it was corrected.

Hmmmm, I just went and did mine and it worked perfectly....
It did tell me that my subscription expires in 25 days, but that is absolutely correct.

Just curious: have any of you tried to open the registration info panel (click on 'REgistration Info' on the bottom right corner of SDC) then click on Object Desktop under 'REgister', enter your email and information (if it's not already there) and hit the 'update' button?

...note 'update' here means updating the registration information not renewing the subsription.

I'm actually going to say kudos for the new version.

It's fixed a lot of issues for me and no sign of the registration problem mentioned above...

[edited] And external links open in Firefox (default browser) !

Yes. I tried that and as soon as I did it made things worse... It now tells me my subscription information "doesn't exist" on Stardock's servers. I am pretty PO'd and nobody at SD is acknowledging the problem.

I don't think it's the Stardock Central update per-see. It's doing the same thing on my laptop on which I hadn't updated Stardock Central. I think SD has some other errant problem going on with their servers.

How long ago did you notify them?

Are you using the exact exact same email addy in the registration dialog that you used to purchase (that's critical!) ?

Yes ChrisTH I am using the exact email addy - nothing has changed on my computer except that I installed an update and now SD tells me that my subscription has expired and it hasn't (6 November 2005).

I just got an info bubble telling me there is another update available so I am going to install it and see if that fixes the error.

And I thought I was notifying them of the issue since I made the original post here in "Stardock Support - Object Desktop"...otherwise why does this forum exist?

otherwise why does this forum exist?

It's like the newsgroups - for the users to help one another, primarily. If the developers make an appearance from time to time it's our bonus - not our right.

The only official support is via email or phone.

Oh, I don't know... users helping each other = support to my mind...

yes, but the "Stardock" implies one will receive support from them - I have nothing against users helping users. I am an Editor at a web development community and that is what I do - just my observation and my opinion on the title of the forum, not a judgment...
