Planet Screen Feedback

Time to start the ball rolling on the planet screen, since we've already got threads for research and ship design screens.

My take so far:

1) Clicking on a translucent "under construction " improvement on the map should select that item in the queue, so it can be changed or cancelled easily. As it is now, if you have many of the same item scheduled, you have to dig through the list until you get the one you're looking for. Would be nice as well if you could simply press the delete key or something on your keyboard to cancel a queued improvement after selecting it via the map.

2) This one's an error: some low-quality planets are getting generated with mismatched globe and tile-map images (one I saw had a red mars-like globe, but the map was that of an "ice planet", with just snow and rock areas.

3) I think it's been mentioned already, but there should be some sort of queue for ship-building as well. Though there's not really any place for that on the planet screen at the moment, and it would probably be more at home on the shipyard screen. Still, it would probably be helpful to show smaller icons for queued ships in the ship constrcution gauge (once queueing is actually added, that is).

This screen is looking good. Couple of further changes required though. I'd add

- The bonus tiles (ones with small icons) need to be described as more than just 'bonus: 7%'. The type of bonus needs to be added. I assume some of these provide bonus to research, some to food, some to industry, etc. Therefore you easily need to know what type of building to build

- Food: The amount of food produced by the planet is in strange quantities. It's not immediately clear how this relates to the supportable population or to the morale. I'm not sure what the plan is with the food/population/morale. Assuming food is used to control population or morale I'd suggest changing this number of a % of required food. If it's >100% you know your population will expand, if it's less than 100% you know you need more farms.

- Unemployment: Is this being implemented? I though the plan was to drop it. Therefore it needs to be removed from here and from all buildings. Again the exact population/morale/food plan needs to be thought out and decided.

- Tile Images: There need to be a wider range of images for tile types. Coastal tiles also need to have a series of coastal images to choose from.

- building list: The current list looks good but you only see a tiny fraction of the available buildings to build. YOu can happily scroll down the list but personally I'd like to see more of the list on the screen at a single time (I'm at 1024x768). Either a rearrangement to accomodate a longer window or slightly smaller icons allowing for a few more buildings to be shown in the queue.

Paul.

Regarding Point 3:

I would add a destination column to the ship building queue having Orbit, Launch, or Way-Point number. The intent is to prevent having to address each ship as it is built. (e.g., I could have Defenders stay in orbit, Dreadnaughts assemble near the front lines, and transports towards the rear.)

I agree that this queue should be on the shipyard screen.

Hmm looks like Solitair said everything I wanted to say and more... Oh one thing I did notice though. Sometimes ship icons don't appear in the "orbiting planet" and you have to click (usually) the top right box to launch it. I'm not sure if that has been said or not but there it is.

Cari already covered that (In fact I think it is stickied) and it is being worked on.
