I think I have the same problem. I'm going to install smart exception to verify this.

Edit: seems to be a different problem but it also crashes everytime I try to start it.

You need to update the NVidia drivers to the latest (March 11th 2005) for directx 9.0c to work properly.

I updated to the latest ATI drivers to see if that would help here as well.
Unfortunately it stil crashes with the same crash dump.

I already had DirectX 9c. Today I upgraded to Catalyst 5.3 but it does not make a difference.
When I try to start it the screen goes blank and it immediately crashes.
Maybe its an Athlon 64 problem because I have DEP enabled...

I have a MOBILITY RADEON 9000 running on my DELL AMD-based laptop, with DirectX 9.0c, and my system crashes while LOADING (about 10-15 seconds after I hit NEXT from the CHOOSE OPPONENTS screen).

Horseshoe7, make sure you are playing as humans. Choosing a non-human race as your race will cause a crash. And make sure you have the latest drivers for your video card. You have the latest DirectX 9c. That combination has fixed a lot of new game startup crashes.

I also have a MOBILITY RADEON 9000 running on my DELL laptop, I updated to DirectX 9.0c, and my system crashes when I hit next after selecting opponents. I have tried selecting various resolutions with no luck. I also selected tiny/rare on everything with 1 opponent on normal. I assume it something to do with running it on a laptop. I’m not sure how to update my MOBILITY RADEON 9000 driver. I sure its simple, but am a little afraid to mess my system up.

I also want to say how pleased I am to be a part of this beta and that I confident that these issues will be worked out.
