I'm concerned . . . seems there was only about 50 games sumbitted on the weekend. That doesn't seem like very many . . . I'm not seeing too many new faces on the boards either these days, do you think that the GC retail release has pretty much maxed out? Do you think the general release of the Beta will revive consumer interest in this game?

Not a pleasant topic I know but skirting around the issue isn't going to magically help SD any. :notsure:

I wonder if one day this Metaverse will just disappear without warning? I'm a pessimist generally (ask anyone I know) but can't ignore the decline in Customer Support (I know the beta development takes priority but still) and the decrease in Metaverse activity and submissions.

Mabye it's just the case that not many people like to submit games? Who knows? Nevertheless there are literaly hundereds of inactive empires and individuals registered . . . whats going on?

Graphic designer... I studied graphic design for a spell. Did some computer graphics work too. I also created web pages for a business and worked as a bulletin board administrator. That was so many years ago that most of my knowledge is obsolete. Plus I no longer have access to high-end graphics software and web software. Um... why am I mentioning this? Oh yeah, I’m procrastinating with two research proposals in Asian affairs and politics that are due tomorrow. :p

A GalCiv comic strip... that sure would be fun.

I'm on that Cotal. Imma make a comment tonight :D ! Hey, wait a sec, duh, I forgot, I can't write a story...nevertheless my literacy is still questionable :(

Oh well, another day, another time....I will write a story!

For the records: I used to write TONS of stroies as a kid, I know I have a great, and sometimes vivid, imagination. Perhaps someday you all may live long enough to see me post some literature that I can write.

Seriously, does anyone have some far-out ideas for new single-player gameplay modes (beyond just new scenarios)? The way I figure it, given that this is a SP game, some more ways to make it the best SP game ever could help sales a lot.

Bloodlust. Culture flipping turned off. Just flat out conquest. Now that would be fun.
Accelerated scattered Start. Pick planets for each race randomly scattered (would be cool for bloodlust)

Did that work (re quotage)? It's a riot! I never knew that about the set-up portraits screen . . . so you can go head to head with an alien of your choice! That's Excellent! I'd guess there's a penalty droping the degree of difficulty doing this . . . ?

IIRC, the difficulty is reduced with every race out. Maybe you can test it and tell us.

To put this thread back on track....

Maybe part of the slow down is that some of us newbies can't registor the game.
I've only had the game for about 6 weeks but I've managed 12 to 15 games. Being on vacation helps.....
Not one game has showed up on Metaverse.

Is anyone else on satellite?

I've tried the things I've picked up from other threads
but nothing helps.

I have to have satellite - I'm so far back in the hills over night FedEx takes 2 days.

Open for suggestions...........

Clearly there are some issues, I've read no less than like four recent posts today similar to yours Lost Explorer . . .

All I can think of is mabye somekind of alternative submission system using encryption and e-mails to SD as as last resort. Mind you it would be easier in the long run to figure out why things are going arie in the first instance.

Perhaps packet sending sizes have something to do with it? I wonder what the correlation between bandwidth and errenous sumbissions is? I'm probably completely on the wrong track, but its a though nevertheless . . .

i said this before and I'll say it again - you iz all definitely crazy :)

actually, going back to the original thread, i don't mind a reset - i am confused by the scoring system a bit. h'actually i az had a cunning plan: rather than score difficulty levels, tech levels blah blah solo, how about an algorithm that compensates you for the amount of time you ain't the top dog in the galaxy ie crawling from 6th place to 1st place is awarded more points than starting in 1st place and finishing in first place.

i can't even undertsand myself. may i'm crazy.

I don't think a reset would keep people happy. Completely revamping the identification of score ownership would be good though. There should be no need for you to enter your id and have ANY risk of this being different than your metaverse id. The game should submit using your registration code and a single screen on the website (and duplicated on stardock central) should allow you to set the name associated with that registration code. Most people who fail to see their scores are having problems with multiple id's. Galciv id, Drengin id, website id, ...
