Multiplicity 3 + multiple computers

Since a few years I've been using Multiplicity 3 to share my Primary computer keyboard  & mouse only with 2 computers on local network.

Recently i've reinstalled my Primary computer OS (Windows11)

When I reinstalled Multiplicity 3 and put my licence, it appears I can no longer share my keyboard & mouse with my 2 "secondary" computer anymore.

It does work, but only with a single "secondary computer" at once, and I HAVE to place it on the grid which I never done before.

Until then I was simply able to swap between one computer to one another using shortcuts.

Has the Multiplicity 3 "KM" licence functionnalies been changed?

Thank you , i will wait for a reply then.

For note , i've done the base troubleshooting including :

- uninstalling multiplicity 3 on secondary computers

- reboot

- manual cleanup of remaining files/folders Stardock/Multiplicity in Program data/program files /program files (x86)

In %appdata% subdirectories

I've also cleaned the corresponding folders in the Windows registry in CurrentUser and LocalUser

- reinstalling  Multiplicity 3 on the "secondary" computers with the same setup file used for Primary computer , taken from my Account "download" webpage.

- reboot all computers
- reboot internet router (just for good measure)
The secondary computers are instantly seens by the primary computer wether using computer network names or IP addresses. keyboards/mouse sharing works perfectly fine with shortcuts as well.
But it only work with a SINGLE secondary computer at once and it is mandatory for it to be placed on the grid.
Sadly I cannot place 2 secondary computers on the grid , the software just doesn't allow that . I remember it is a normal behaviour as you need a KVM licence for that (and I have a KM paid licence only )
Just in case , i've set the software in english language.
I have also made sure Multiplicity is whitelisted in Windows default firewall.
Still a KM licence should allow to share mouse & keyboard with up to 5 computers ,  which was the case before.
Hope that helps

Hi Sanders6,

Thanks for posting.  If your Multiplicity 3 KM license previously allowed keyboard/mouse switching between two Secondary PCs, I expect it should still be able to do that now.

Since this started after reinstalling Windows on the Primary, please try deactivating the old/previous Primary activation from your Stardock account, then activate Multiplicity again on the current Primary.

Guide here: https://support.stardock.com/space/SHC/1260585049/How+to+deactivate+Stardock+products

After reactivating, reboot the Primary and test adding both Secondary PCs again.  Please let us know if that helps.

Good evening,

thank you for the quick reply.

I have done step by step the given instructions

The licence has been disabled both from my Account webpage and Primary computer successfully.

I've restarted

put back the licence on Primary computer

I did correctly received the  "activation successful" message.

Account products webpage indeed displays the licence being in use on said computer now.

Sadly, there's no change :

Both "secondary" computers are well recognized and I can add them to the trusted list.
I can share my keyboard & mouse with both "secondary" computers but :

it HAS to be put on the grid

Only up to 1 single "secondary" computer on the grid

I cannot put both on the grid

nor can I put one and access the other one simply with a shortcut.

May you please advise?

I wouldn't mind upgrading if ultimately necessary but I hope I could at least get a little discount.

Do you perhaps have a "temporary" activation key I could use for troubleshooting? so that I can ensure wether it comes from my licence or not.

Again, thank you in advance,

Kind regards,

Antoine

If it still isn't working as it was, this sounds like something else changed along with your reinstallation of Windows.  Our guide here should help troubleshooting through connection issues like this:

As a prior Multiplicity customer, we do offer upgrade discounts to Multiplicity 4, as detailed here:

If you want to try Multiplicity 4 for free before you buy it, there's also a free trial available from the product page.

Hello,

thank you for your reply.

I downloaded Multiplicity4 on all 3 computers (Primary + 2 secondaries)

followed by a restart of course.

It remembered my settings and workoud flawlessly.

I had to put both "secondary" computers on the Seamless grid for the shortcuts to work.

My understanding it that "Multiplicity 3 KM" licence does no longer allow more than 1 secondary computer in Seamless (grid) which is questionnable.

I will enjoy the 30 days trial and consider upgrading to "Multiplicity 4 KM" licence then.

Preferably, i'd like to stay with my current Multiplicity 3 KM licence but it appears there is no other workaround to get it to work like before.

Thank you for your kind support
