Search moves to the right

Hi. With the Windows 10 style menu and groups width set to 6 icons, when searching for something the window grows only to the right side and does not respect the size of the currente window. This does not happen with other styles. Here is a video:

Also, all the issues I posted on reply 19 are still there after the latest beta.

This has already been reported and the dev team is aware of it. They say it should be fixed in the next update.

I just installed the latest beta and the option to move the taskbar vertically disappeared. I uninstalled completely, rebooted, re-installed and still not available.

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. What actually you see on that option? Post short video or screenshot please.

Thank you.

Align bottom or top, as it was before the beta. Uninstalled and went for the previous beta and it is back.

Hi,

i started using start 11 just a week ago and i got it just so i could get a vertical taskbar again.

its really nice, but the clock gets really compressed to where its hard for me to make out what it actually says, i cant seem to find a setting where i can change it to larger text or anything.  the text seem fine when i swap it back to a normal horizontal bar so i assume it has something to do with turning it vertical.

It is because there isn't enough space for a bigger font as the bar is narrow.

You can resize the bar and the font will enlarge once it is wider.

Still seeing these issues in Start11v2 - 2.4.9.4

Start Button not Displaying as Expected

Here are my findings after testing again on 2.4.9.4:

Scenario 1
Taskbar: Align Left
Vertically center the taskbar buttons ON
Hide the start button on the primary display OFF
No apps pinned to the taskbar
No apps open
Results: Start button hidden, but clicking where it should be opens the start menu; Pressing the WinKey on the keyboard opens the start menu

Scenario 2
Taskbar: Align Left
Vertically center the taskbar buttons ON
Hide the start button on the primary display OFF
With either an app pinned to the taskbar, or an app open
Results: Start button displays, and clicking it opens the start menu; Pressing the WinKey on the keyboard opens the start menu

Scenario 3
Taskbar: Align Left
Vertically center the taskbar buttons ON
Hide the start button on the primary display ON
No apps pinned to the taskbar
No apps open
Results: Start button displays, but clicking it does not open the start menu; Pressing the WinKey on the keyboard opens the start menu

Scenario 4
Taskbar: Align Left
Vertically center the taskbar buttons ON
Hide the start button on the primary display ON
With either an app pinned to the taskbar, or an app open
Results: Start button hidden, and clicking where it should be does nothing; Pressing the WinKey on the keyboard opens the start menu

**************************************

Start Button Jitters

In addition, if I use a custom start button, it jitters on hover. It seems to be alternating between not pressed an hover images very quickly.

Wasted my time, exactly the same problem after doing what you asked, also I have ugly artifacts in the settings, this beta was not good, glad I have kept the previous one, reverting back.

Sorry to hear that, just suggest it to ensure you have installed the product properly, not really sure why it is not working on your system. And since you reverting back and don't wish to try to figure what is wrong.

As for the artifact, white box, issue, is known and Dev has mentioned that will be resolved on next release.

As for your no option for left or right taskbar as you can see on my system screenshot below.

I believe it works on your system, but strangely not one in mine, whereas the previous beta presents the options for vertical alignment (which i don't use because as one user has also mentioned, I cannot see the previews when I hover over). I did twice installs and unistalls, 2nd time exactly as you asked. I guess I will wait for the next update. Very strange but something has definitely changed, the artifacts in the settings menu included

This is caused by an error which is detecting your version of Windows as not supported.  It should be allowing 23H2 and 24H2 but it is accepting 23H2 beta channel and 24H2.

Quoting jwhitecotton,

Hi all, I'm seeing issues even after uninstalling without keeping settings, reboot, reinstall, reboot of 2.49.3.

Whether I place the taskbar on the right or left of my two screens. I don't see a start button on the taskbar, but clicking the app showing where the start button should be, opens the start menu. Which also means I can't click the app that's in the start button position and have to use keyboard shortcuts to bring the app back to the front.

Also, on my second monitor, nothing shows on the taskbar except the date/time at the bottom. If I click on the taskbar where the start button should be, the start menu opens. Any apps I move to the second monitor still show on the primary monitor taskbar, not the secondary monitor taskbar.

When you go to:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Stardock\Start11

Start11Config.exe -> Properties -> Details

Is the 'File version' 2.4.9.3?

If not, it has not been properly updated.

I'm still seeing all of the same issues: no start button, apps on the secondary monitor not showing on the secondary taskbar, etc. with the taskbar on the right of both screens.

I checked the Start11Config.exe when I was on 2.49.3, and it showed 2.49.3. I just updated to 2.49.5 and the exe file shows the correct version.

Can you check the version on start10_64.dll rather than the config exe?

We simply cannot reproduce what you are seeing nor have we had any other reports since this was addressed several minor versions ago.

If you do a purge \ reinstall, can you still get it to happen?

If you try under a clean boot, can you?

Added UI options for icon size, button width, and height to advanced taskbar settings. Only properly apply when not using OS autohide

This is a pretty big new feature and I have some thoughts on it.

*First I love how seamless it fits in with the UI. Resizing a taskbar has never been more easy. Great job!

*The icon sizes look to all be uniform and that is fixed in the update.

*In my opinion; this update is s superior version of taskbar size. Maybe even it could replace taskbar size altogether to streamline a little?

*Also, could "custom" start buttons resize with icon size at all or is that a limitation?

*The only other thing I would still like to see is to control the size of "never combined tabs". Specifically just the width and nothing else

Great new feature!

I believe the custom Start button size is scaled based on the size of 1/3 of the PNG size. At least on my system it is. In other words, a PNG file that is 40x120 will scale the 40x40 size to your new dimension settings.

EDIT: After further testing, you're right, it does not scale.

The custom start button flicker has been resolved, but if you don't have an app open or pinned to the taskbar, the default Windows 11 start button is used.

If you hide the start button on Primary monitor, if you don't have an app open or pinned to the taskbar, the default Windows start button is displayed, but does not work. If an app is open or pinned to the taskbar, the start button is hidden.

There seems to be an issue related to whether an app is open or pinned to the taskbar and how the Start button is displayed.

Taskbar on the left.

Since reply 19, I've been reporting various bugs aftear each update, but never have I received an answer, nor have the issues been resolved in any update; should I not report anymore? I don't think you are taking my reports seriously and I take time to report them and even record them.
