Well, I hope "shiny" isn't out completely as the theme I'm working on is somewhat shiny - and if it's out of fashion before I've even finished it I'll scream

Mines not Aqua by any stretch though as I agree that it's become passe now. take a look at my current screen shot and please someone tell me I've not wasted the hours already spent on it

Styles tend to come and go....some may think glossy objects are passe but so many people like them and many are new to the skinning game that it'll be popular for a long time yet, if not forever...

Nah it looks real nice Sput. It's shiny but it's original, not Aqua look . I'm already planning which icons and dock I'd use with it.

I don't know, but I do know that Jario's work is some of the stuff I like best for ObjectDock, and almost all of it is glassy.

Of course ObjectDock is kinda modeled after OSX.

Woh. I totally agree. I forgot about Jairo Boudewyn. I must say his work is an exception to the rule. His work stands out. I like it very much.

i like xero's aqua icons. very crisp and clean, nice colors.. not glass, something halfway between faux and apple.

ok guys, there is a lot of thinks now... but somebody can exactly tell me, what I need to do, if I want to kepp everything in my system, but want to change the winxp scrollers and windowheadlines to a machintos OSX style aqa? I don't want to change everything (for example I don't need that menu in the top)... SO what software I need to use for that and what I need to download? I use now DesktopX...

I don't think the glassy look will ever go out of style here. Look around you. Everything you see has a shine or reflection. What do you have in mind for a differant look. Even if you use a wood texture you will see a certain amount of reflection or glossyness. What you do with the glassy look will make your work appealing to others and want more. In reference, take a look at two wallpaper, WC2K5 LAZER and REBLE COLOR PACK created by RPGuere. To me thay have the richness and depth that gives the effect of glass that stands apart from that glossy aqua look. Also a different style of reflection. Your basic orb consists of three objects. The orb, the reflection and a shade for depth. Now look at something in your home, like a clock face, a CD and even a Christmas ornement that has a gloss to it. Look at the many many reflections in it that make up it's three dimentional form. Now if you can do that type of glassy look, you would definetlly stand apart from the every day glassy aqua object.

seems kinda hard to call aqua a fad, since nothing else could touch it in how much use it's gotten, what other fads are there? (saying brushed metal doesn't count besides apple started that one too) and what exactly is the longhorn fad? blue and white is just a color scheme. Does just use and popularity make something a fad, and what fads would come up next if so? A wood fad? sand fad? bumpy fad? hologram fad? fuzzy fad? Aqua adds interest to many things that would look un-appealing otherwise. (Not that I don't admit it's getting way overdone and there's plenty of other ways to do it) I still say form follows function!!

i know this is not the right place to talk about this...but it's close......."DesktopX should be Flash enabled and must have much more control over windows." and make superior then windowblinds.and need new software which will customize the use and look of (media center edition).
Then you will not get tired soon..coz if they do that there is too much to do.now everybody is stuck with few ideas(Gloss,Aqua,Transparent...etc),just because of windowblinds...i am not angry or anything just tryin to tell my opinion.Ya i know this is not the right place to tell.
