Invisible Openings

Everyday, many times a day, since the dawn of release, when I open a second folder, whether its back to back or if I open one then wait a long time, then open another, it does what these images show.

I have to click the title bar or the Windows taskbar at the bottom to get it to actually show up. This is really annoying since it's been going on for years at this point. It doesn't matter what folders they are, it will work great then it won't on the same folders. It does it randomly. I just opened a few folders to get this bug to show, it was easy since it does it all the time. I've installed Windows many different times so it's not Windows.

This is before I click the title or task bar, and after (what it should have done to begin with): https://postimg.cc/gallery/zyrnB7L

Can we fix this please?

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. Need few more information.

  1. Windows 11 full version and OS Build number. Please use Winver.exe
  2. Groupy version number.
  3. Please post a video so that we understand the issue better. Post the video on a video sharing site, for example, youtube, and share its public link here.

Thank you.

I have seen this happen, rarely. Not quite sure why it happens, but as you say clicking on the title bar fixes it. I would say it has happened maybe twice in the last few months.

  • I already listed the answers of your first two questions in the two links I posted previously.
  • The scaling is at 100%.
  • I've already stated I've installed different versions of Windows many times in my original post, which means I've install Groupy many times over with this same issue on many different versions of Windows. Also, the above person also has this issue, so its now clear it's not just me, this is a Groupy issue, and has been for years. Please fix. Thanks.

His issue, as he mentioned it, was " happened maybe twice in the last few months." while yours "Everyday, many times a day, since the dawn of release" so I don't think its the same. Look like something is interfering or conflicting with Groupy in your system. If this is really an issue for every system, we will have more reports from other users.

Anyway, moving forward, please try cleanboot and see if we can identify the conflicting application. Refer here for steps: https://support.stardock.com/space/SHC/1346994300/Groupy+Clean+Boot.

Note: Please go through the steps carefully.

I live on 'Clean Boot'. I have nothing start up when my PC starts except Groupy, and PowerToys. I've tried removing PowerToys, I still have the same issue. Again, I have done several Windows 10 installations of different versions with this issue always being there.

I live on my computer 24 hours a day, I'm sure the most don't. I'm a content creator so I'm opening folders hundreds of times a day as I'm sure most people don't?

Most people probably won't take the time to report this issue because it's just annoying and they can live with it like I did for 2 years. To most people, its not worth signing up for a forum, and posting about it and having to go through this process where they keep blaming it on you when you know its not. There are others with the issue and they don't report it, just like the other guy, so I'm sure there are others who just don't wanna go through this process of more annoyance. We both have let you know about this issue, and that it's not just one person. Just dig into claims of this issue and see why its happening please.

It's been six months and this issue is not still not fixed. I have to deal with it a dozen times a day, everyday. I provided an image of the issue as requested from when I originally stressed this issue. Others have mentioned that they also experience it. This is unacceptable at this point. I can't take it anymore. I will be uninstalling Groupy and I will not be using or purchasing anything Stardock related anymore.

This phenomenon only seems to happen when I have an Explorer windows open and then open a Control Panel that opens in an Explorer window. An example is opening the Downloads folder and then opening the Reliability Monitor. It doesn't happen when these are opened in the reverse order.

Yes, This is tied to explorer. This bug is only triggers when you already have a folder open (minimized or not), and open another one as seen in my video below.

As a reference, I still can not reproduce this issue. Here is my video showing it. Any specific steps I need to take to force the issue to appear?

Hi Broth3rz1,

With Windows 10, I seem to now be consistently reproducing the issue demonstrated from your video.  Something seems to fail with the 'Automatic Window Grouping' with File Explorer windows when the 2nd one is opened.  Without that setting enabled (from the Grouping rules tab -> 'Automatically group identical windows together' checkbox), this issue won't reproduce.  I also could not find a way to reproduce this on Windows 11.

Please know that when reporting an issue, we greatly appreciate and will rely on ALL reproduction steps to be laid out.  This includes even seemingly basic steps of any changes of settings from the default of the application.

This is now logged for review.

I also could not find a way to reproduce this on Windows 11.

I am able to reproduce this issue on Windows 11 Pro - 22631.5189; Groupy 2.2.0.1

If I open a folder in an Explorer window and then open a Control panel that opens in Explorer. Both opened from the Start11v2 menu.

Here's an example. If I open the Downloads folder, and then open Programs & Features in a new tab, the window disappears.

Clicking on the Title Bar fixes it.

Ok this is interesting.  Following the same exact steps with the same applications, I can also reproduce in Win11 (24H2 build 26100.3915).

Also noteworthy is that if I close it and try again, it doesn't happen a 2nd time.  If I restart Windows Explorer and try again, however, the problem comes back.  Something seems to be going on with the processes.  Will add this to the log.

I really don't understand why this STILL isn't fixed? It's been an actual year since I posted about this.. :'(

This is clearly an issue that many have.

Have you tried the 2.5.5.1 Beta? I don't see this issue anymore.

I didn't know that was a thing. I can't find it, can you link me please, 64 bit.

This only lists one thing and that is "Groupy". It shows my serial key under that and when I hover over the "Download" button, it says "Version: 1.5.1.1". Then it lists the size and name of the actual file.

There is nothing about any beta version or anything else. I'd really love to have this since I just installed Windows and rather not use the version with this issue I deal with dozens of times a day. Do you have a download link or can you email it or?

Thanks.
