I was wondering if Groupy 2 has a feature that allows you to close all open tabs in Notepad with just one click of the X button in the top right corner, instead of just closing the active tab. This is a similar function to the native tabs for Notepad and other applications. Could you please let me know if this setting exists or if I may have missed it? Thank you.

This is currently not supported via that button, though you can right click on a tab and pick options to close all / one etc.

We are looking into the possibility of adding support for this for Notepad and Explorer at least.

Has anyone been able to confirm the group link creation issues I posted in replies 4 and 5 (also is there a way to link to replies?). I'm fairly confident it isn't my system as I've tested it on multiple machines one of which was just after a fresh format.

With "show only one combined button" enabled, if you un-group then re-group one of the grouped icons, the next time you hover over the icon, ONLY the preview of the re-grouped item appears, instead of the previews of all of the grouped apps.

After entering and leaving sleep mode, a duplicate of the combined icon appears in the task bar, and shows all of the apps except for the one which was re-added. If you hover over the original combined icon, it only shows the app you re-added, but it no longer functions as a working icon.

When saving Firefox into a group, after opening the group, all of the apps maintain their correct order except for Firefox which always appears first in the sequence of tabs.

The order of the apps in the hover-preview of the combined button doesn't correspond to the order of the tabs as they're grouped. This behavior is inconsistent -- sometimes reorganizing the tabs does change the order of the app previews.

The combined tab window doesn't have the options of the currently-active application. At a minimum, "maximize" and "minimize" should be available in addition to "close window".

Check for updates won't save when I change it to "on".

EDIT: Additional info... if you un-group and re-group additional tabs after the first one, the hover-preview will show each new app re-grouped in the order that they're regrouped (not the order of tabs). It's almost as if it "starts fresh".

EDIT 2: Firefox does not retain accent colors when restoring a saved group.

EDIT 3: Occasionally Excel fails to fully "integrate" with a saved group after the initial opening. When dragging another app in the group around the screen, the Excel window lags behind in the background, and also appears maximized after minimizing another app in the group. After minimizing Excel, it appears to work normally for the remainder of the session.

EDIT 4: Closing a tab in a saved group breaks the ability to see the hover-preview of the apps on the combined icon. If you reopen the application you closed and re-add it to the saved group, the tab accent doesn't return.

EDIT 5: Occasionally the combined icon (not hover-preview) only shows one/some of the grouped apps, instead of the 4 it should default to when 4+ apps are grouped.

EDIT 6: Now one of the duplicated icons is off-centered vertically

EDIT 7: For some reason two of my apps have duplicated themselves and created their own icons in the taskbar. This may have been due to attaching to an external display. The icons are non-functional:

EDIT 8: On occasion closing apps leaves an artifact that won't disappear until Groupy is killed and restarted. I believe hovering over the tab while closing it causes this:

EDIT 9: Occasionally when dragging apps out of groups, they will snap back into the group. This has persisted for many version of Groupy.

Good evening Team Stardock! As a Windows 10 returnee from Windows 11, I discovered your software solution "Groupy2" and was super surprised at how well it works! Thanks for that. Found a bug that I'd like to report and give some feedback. As you can see on the pictures I use Groupy 2 for the file explorer in Win10.

As soon as the explorer window is maximized and a new tab is added, the explorer window automatically shrinks and Groupy 2 slips out of the explorer (image2).

It would also be really great if the Groupy 2 bar wasn't so compressed when the explorer window is maximized. Is it possible to implement this later and fix the bug?

The next topic is not a bug but rather a cosmetic problem. In the pictures, Groupy 2 is attached as an additional frame on the file explorer above. In the first picture, the file explorer is quite normal and looks good. As soon as the file explorer window is maximized, the Groupy2 additional frame becomes smaller and there is a pixel gap between Groupy2 and the file explorer (see picture 3 with the red circles). This does not happen when maximizing to half the screen (see picture 2). My System: Windows 10 Pro, Version 22H2 (Build 19045.3086). Greetings Creativ3AK

What should be taken into consideration is that I have my Windows 11 taskbar set to use the old/classic one (with labels showing) so maybe that could be part of the problem. Can't tell.

EDIT: oh yeah, as a bonus I wanted a bit of clarification on the options related to the "Ctrl+N" shortcut... in a thread I made before Groupy 2 even started beta testing I mentioned the possibility of using an app's own "create new window" functionality (USUALLY mapped to Ctrl+N, but not always) instead of creating a new instance of the .exe - I can't tell if that's the case now, and what is the effect of enabling the Ctrl+N shortcut option in Groupy 2 now. So in short:

• What does "Use Ctrl+N to open a new tab (when possible)" do? Does it override an application's own Ctrl+N shortcut, does it create another instance of the application?

• Similarly, is that not also what "Make the add new tab button left side try to open a new copy of the application you are working in on all windows"

Just a bit confused so It'd be nice to have some clarification

So I'm still having all of the same issues as before including creating new tabs via drag-drop not working. Groupy 2 is completely unusable for me. Is there a fix in the works?

EDIT:

It appears the problem with drag-drop was the settings were changed. I had to go back in and set it to use the shift button again. Not sure how that happened but drag-drop is working again aside from the xlucent drop target not being dismissed properly.

Also worth noting is that only the "Save Group" menu item fails. If I use "Save group as ..." and just use the same name (overwrite) it does not create the extra no name groups and correctly updates the group.

We have a lot of things to look at over the course of a release but we try to answer every question.

That's normal for taskbar buttons with multiple child windows; if you have combined taskbar buttons in the OS (ignore Groupy) it isn't possible as that's how the taskbar does it.  Windows only does the minimize on click on the taskbar button if the group contains one window in total.

However... We can see how this could be useful but not likely controlled by Groupy, rather Start11.  With that, I have logged it as a feature request for it, Lua9, thank you for it.

When I group an MS Edge window, everything works fine. However, anytime I move the window to another group, the content is moved down by the size of a tab bar/title bar. This results in a black bar on top the Edge window, but it is only visual. The underlying content still reacts as if there was no shift.

Here's how that looks after some moves:

Now when I click to where the search field appears to be, I am actually clicking somewhere on the page. In order to get to the search bar, I need to click into the black void, where it's supposed to be.

Sorry to hear you are having issues. But, I can not reproduce your issue on my system. Maybe there is incompatibility issue with some of edge addon. Try running Edge with all the addon turn off and see if the issue still there.

I do use PowerToys with FancyZones, maybe there's the issue?

I also use FancyZones, yet I don't have such issue. Could you post a video on this issue so I can see and understand it better and try to reproduce it on my system.

Apparently I wasnt getting update notifications and on a whim i manually checked.  Went from initial beta release to the current general release all in one go. 

Apparently the following was added to the new tab button and im wondering if theres an option to remove it so only the + is visible, akin to stock?   If not, consider this another feature request from me lol.  The right click context menu generally affords the same utility.

There is a gap/space between the top edge of 1 grouped Fancyzone, vs. the bottom of the next Fancyzone (on top)

Fancyzones is setup with 0 pixel space/no gap

So as far as I can tell the save bug occurs after you save a group a second time. The first time you save a group the filename is listed using the full path (Left side of ss) If you change the group (tabs, size, pos, etc...) and click "Save group" again you end up with only the filename (right side of SS). This will leave you with a new group with no name (.groupy) and the original unchanged (test.groupy) group. See attached SS. 

I still would wish for auto updating especially for simple changes like group size/pos instead of having to go through the menus to resave a group each time I move it or Maximize/Minimize. 

EDIT:

It looks like it only does the above when adding/removing tabs to/from a group. Simply changing and resaving size/pos does not. Although the name change in the menu occurs anytime you resave.

opening files directly in notepad cause the groupy tabs UI go away.

As noted in the Groupy UI for best compatibility you need to set notepad to open new files in new windows rather than a new tab.

Otherwise if notepad creates a new tab then Groupy will swap to non integrated mode.

I just renewed Groupy to version 2 for the sole purpose of launching several applications at once in particular the game store apps.

My workflow was usually: Lauch Steam and see whats new..., Launch EPIC and see whats new..., Launch Ubisoft Connect and see whats new... etc...

So Groupy 2 sound like a perfect solution...

BUT... (there is always a BUT, isn't it?)

STEAM does not launch!! All the other stores launch but not steam.
I Dont know why.

I'm really sure no steam instance is already running but no matter what I do STEAM does not launch. All the other app stores launch for example EPIC or Ubisoft connect.

Maybe some one could HELP me on this?
