  • Adds in Windows 11 animations

Known issues

While we appreciate all feedback, please remember that we offer no official support for beta \ preview \ developer channel versions of Windows. If you report issues while in any of those early release channels, you should not expect them to be addressed unless it still exists in a retail version of Windows.

Has any more work been done on the issues I posted from the other thread?

Needs 144hz screen animation support. All animations look super choppy on higher refresh rate monitors beyond 60hz.

Is the WindowsFX app supposed to animate the Windows 10 Start Menu?  If so, mine is not animating.  The windows are, but not the Start Menu.

I'm use 144Hz monitor. All animations looks fine. No chappies or anything like this. Windows 11, AMD RX 580. AMD freesync premium is on.

I should of specified what features need the fix. Its the window drag animation compiz style option that is 60hz only. That is the animation that lags on higher refresh rates.

Start11 also has no animations with windowfx. None of the options work on it. Only on start 10.

Hi SimplexDesigns,

I am unable to recreate your issue, the animations are working for me with Start11 on both Windows 10 and 11, one person in the office was having some issues with it, but it seemed to work properly after a reboot, have you by chance rebooted since install?

Has not worked since it was installed. All other animations work for the windows though.

No mater what setting is set for the start menu animation or style, it just plays the default sliding animation. This is a fresh windows 11 install so I know this is not an issue with the os but with either Start11 or WindowFX 6. Rebooting does nothing, reinstalling the application does nothing.

Wobbly window movement set to compiz lags, not fluid on higher refresh rate monitors above 60hz. Please address this as well, I would love to use this option but it does not play nice with 144hz refresh rate. Windowfx wobbly window animation style works on 144hz fine though. I cant show this in video form but can be replicated on a machine you guys may have that has a refresh rate higher than 60hz. Imagine looking at something that moves smoothly and then something that stutters badly in a game when it starts to drop frames. Thats what the window animation looks like when dragged with Compiz effect.

I think it is too bad all thes animations and things, got grouped in with the hack that lets me pin on top.  I would like the pin on top, I appreciate the glowing window and even the transparency.  I used to use the poof into explosion window close.  No I don't need that in 2023.  The most important thing is the pin on top.  I am not a current subscriber to windowFX (still beta I hear) but I would want to have that pin on top as a different program that is not beta.

WindowFX was released long ago.  It is not in beta.

WindowFX, wobbly windows, in Windows 11 doesn't work correctly when HDR is enabled.  My main monitor is AW3423DWF using HDR and 119.88Hz at 3440x1440.  I also have a 2560x1600 at 99.96 Hz, and a 1920x1200 at 60Hz.  All at 10bit RGB.  Only the main monitor is HDR enabled and calibrated with the Windows HDR Calibration App to look good for SDR and HDR content.  When selecting a titlebar for a window on the main HDR display the window contrast greatly changes as its dragged, even to the other non-HDR monitors and then when let go it turns normal again.  However, when selecting a window on a non-HDR display the contrast/brightness of the window doesnt change and can even be wobbled and dragged around the HDR display and continues to stay correct.  If then picked up on the HDR display the contrast/brightness goes wack until let go.

There also appears to be alot of flicker and tearing on the higher refresh rates and somewhat choppy.  Is there a nvidia or vsync setting that would help this?

System is I9-13900T, 128GB RAM, RTX 4000 SFF ADA 20GB.

New problem. WindowFX with wobbly windows also causes the new Microsoft Teams app to crash when in a meeting and you choose to share screen.  The teams app will immediately crash and relauch which removes you from the meeting.  Turning off WindowFX and everything works fine.  Have not been able to test with zoom.

"

You have Microsoft Teams version 23320.3021.2567.4799.

You've got the latest version. It was last updated on 1/5/2024.

The client version is 49/23113028718.

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. But, I can not reproduce your issue on my system. However it might because I am using the Classic Teams version. I have forwarded your problem/question to Stardock Support Team for their assistance. Please keep an eye on this thread for any updates. We appreciate your feedback and patience.

It could be with the new Teams, but I can just now confirm that the crash does not happen when I disable HDR mode in Windows 11 with WindowsFX enabled then open a teams meeting doing screen share.

I can create a new meeting with just myself and share my main screen.

WindowFX Disabled and using Windows 11 HDR on = No Crash.

WindowFX Enabled and using Windows 11 HDR off = No Crash.

WindowFX Enabled and using Windows 11 HDR on = Teams Crash and relaunch on immediately sharing screen, or within about 5-10 seconds.

Monitor is 3440x1440 set to 119.88Hz. RGB, SDR (30-bit Color Mode) output color depth 10bpc in Nvidia Control Panel.

Dear Stardock,

I love your softwares, but windowFX has been buggy even after all the debugs tested and after I tested on two computers running windows 11 home. The main issues are windows not following specified open and close animations (even microsoft office windows programs) and the native windows snapping on monitors borders are conflicting with the bounce feature of windowFX.As I love WindowFX and Start 11 I hope you can fix this issues for this amazing software.

Best regards,

Gustavo Leão Saddi

I leave my computer on overnight, and almost never restart unless it's time to clean it out of dust, an update for Windows or a driver (etc.), or something like that.

Since installing the latest Windows FX, and only after installing it (this didn't happen with vanilla Windows or only Start11 v2), when going to unlock my computer from an overnight, the whole thing lags very badly and there are other issues:  I have to click the lock screen with my mouse or hit enter many times to get it to respond, when it does finally give my unlock option it opens up to a desktop that is 1/4 the proper size and in the upper-left of the screen, and the now-mini taskbar takes a while to actually respond.  I either have to wait yet longer for windows explorer to recover and give me back a normal sized desktop that works normally or I have to force it via Task Manager.

in task manager I will notice 2 windows explorer entries (usually there is 1) and the additional one is using a ton of memory that is not typical of windows explorer processes (500MB - this goes away after forcing restarts or letting Windows do it automatically).

Also, I echo what someone else stated that FX doesn't work consistently with all windows, and sometime doesn't work consistently (like it needs some time to "hook" onto a new windows).  Some example - Task Manager sometimes doesn't display all animations for minimizing and maximizing - only the opening wobble and close wobble.  When minimizing some Office application from the minimize button on their title bar, they minimize vanilla, but will minimize FX style if using the taskbar instead (and they will respond properly according to FX in all other ways).  Older apps like Winamp don't work with it at all.

Latest Windows 11 latest everything as of 5/1/2024, also latest Start11 v2 and Windows FX.
