can't launch

I bought star control origins a year or two ago, played it for a few hours, really enjoyed but haven't touched it since. Recently though, I've wanted to visit the game again and play through it. But I can't launch the game. The play button is grayed out on the launcher and I don't know why. I've validated the game files on Steam and recovered 1 missing file, still doesn't work. Does anyone know why?

Sorry to hear you are having trouble.

When the play button is in such a state, the launcher can't find something it expects to.

Perhaps the path of least resistance is to uninstall \ reinstall the game.  If you have not yet tried that, please do so and report back.

If you still have issues after, we will work through them.

I uninstalled and reinstalled the game and that didn't help. I even tried launching the game directly through the game files but StarControl_DX11.exe simply opens the launcher. And if the launcher is already open, it does nothing.

And what is that?

Its expected that 1 file will always fail to validate.

When you try to run the game, what happens?  Has it ever run but just now does not?  If it has run in the past, can you think of anything that has changed?
