Frequent Crashes to Desktop in Melee

My game has been crashing to the desktop in Melee, usually during or right after the ship selection. I've tried most of the solutions online (Page File, Lowering Settings, etc.) but no luck to date. It always crashes without an error. I can almost always reproduce the crash if I leave the ship selection menu up, during Melee.

Nitrous Error: Swap Chain Present Failure:

We have not seen a swap chain error in some time (years).  They are always with NVidia cards and (seemingly) all were resolved with a driver update and \ or a file verification of the game in Steam.

Thank you for the response. This was the first time I've tried playing (replaying) since that year. The above steps did not resolve the issue, but performing a "clean re-install" (per your procedure where you remove from Steam, then manually remove a bunch of files and directories), DID seem to fix the issue.
