Why can't I install this beta on Steam? There is no such option

The beta is only for Object Desktop members at this time.

We do appreciate your willingness to provide feedback, however.

Hello,

I'm using the most recent beta and I've discovered an issue. I'm using a laptop with 2 external displays (I don't use the laptop display). I have the following problem whenever the laptop turns off the external displays and then wakes them: All of the fences move the the primary display (I usually have them arranged on my secondary display). I have to restore a snapshot to get them back on the correct monitor. Also, any changes I made after the last snapshot are undone. This is not an issue when I restart the computer. The fences stay as I left them when I restart my computer.

Thank you,

Peter

Hi.  It would be nice if you guys could fix the issue where fences doesn't start or show after a reboot until Windows Explorer is open for the first time or right clicking on the desktop.  Its been an issue for me for years. I have tried the troubleshooting steps I got from this community in 2019 on several computers many times but with no luck.

I love Fences and never use a computer without them installed!

You need to ensure you have both items here and enabled:

Right now, Fences 3.10 beta is just for Object Destkop members.

That said, there may be a time where it is available for individual purchases before general release.

Thanks, I had temporarily stopped using Fences due to the Desktop icon sorting issues. I've now installed the beta to check it out.

Incidentally the issue with the icon on Folder Portals remains - the icon is not vertically aligned with the text if you change the title font size:

I just installed the Fences 3.10 beta. After reboot and every time I try to enable Fences by right-click menu, it crashes explorer.

Running Windows 10 v21H1. Event viewer shows Fences as the culprit. (Explorer crashed, Fences .dll is the faulting module.)

Installed Fences 3.1 beta. Rebooted.

Click OK and then right click and "Enable Fences". Screen flickers a bit and then the above message reappears. Loop.

Tried rebooting again. Same problem.

Suggestions?

Thanks!

Completely broke for me. No icons on desktop and Fences would not start . Win 10 64  Build 21h1  19403-1023. Had to reinstall 3.0.9.11 which works perfectly. Just giving feedback. :)

Microsoft Windows 10 Pro

Version 21H1 (OS Build 19043.1023)

Here's what I been through so far. Downloaded and ran Fences ver. 3.10 (Beta). So far, so good. Decided to run Object Desktop to see what happens. Right side of Taskbar (clock, date, etc.) disappears. Uninstalled Object Desktop. Got clock and all back. I then decided to run Groupy, and Groupy must had decided to group the clock, date, and icon on the Taskbar to the far right of the Taskbar. I uninstalled Groupy, and everything returned to normal. I think I'll stick with just Fences for now.

I tried the 3.10 beta and immediately had issues with my background. I use Wallpaper Engine for my desktop background and that stopped working with the beta version. Upon start of my PC it would load the background and then it would flicker and then it would stop working so I had to downgrade again.

Hi Guys

Windows 10 Pro  Version 20H2  OS build 19042.1023

Experience Windows Feature Experience Pack 120.2212.2020.0

Installed and ran just like the current version.  What is still missing for me is a fence unrolling on top of everything.  My use for  Fences is to present a tidy desktop to customers while still being able to quickly access a shortcut to programs.  When I unroll a Fence I want to see the contents not have it unroll under other windows.

This isn't Groupy being silly, but a bug in a preview patch you have installed on your computer.

Microsoft have been informed.

The issue with the clock, date and icons on the taskbar can also be triggered by having Fences installed, WindowFX running or having no Stardock software installed.  It does not happen for everyone either.

The key things to make it happen are 1) running a non 100% scaling on your primary monitor and 2) Hiding the taskbar news and interests area.

Are either of you using Fences in a corp environment, one that uses Forcepoint \ Websense?

And if a 'Clean boot' is done with Fences 3.10?

The beta is working great for me (Windows 10 21H1).

Please add the ability to set the default view for Fence Portals. I prefer to use list instead of Icons, but having to manually set that for each folder is tedious.

Also it would be great if sub folders followed the view setting of the top Fence Portal.
