Sol III WIP

Here's the first draft of a concept design I started on today.

Mind you, this is an early draft which could change drastically as I go along!

The skin name is Sol III because that is one of the names for Earth in the ST universe and also because there are 3 styles.

Update:

Added stripes. Cuz I like stripes!

 

And the evolution continues. Gone, are the black stripes on the top and bottom. Simplified the black area slightly then added the colored stripe down the middle. I think less IS more here......details need to enhance the skin, not muddy the look.

Shown here with the taskbar. Buttons shown: Normal, Mouse, and Selected/Active State. Finally a comm-badge as a start button.

Thinking about it now, the styles will be:

Command, Science, and Engineering. Not Medical

Me too. Don't think the stripes look good with the small dots and fells a bit "misplaced" at the bottom. I prefer cleaner, 's all.

I'm open to that as well. Like I said, I change stuff a lot through the design process so the stripes may likely get scraped along the way.

Very nice start button & overall design imho. The red command is my fav and I bet this one recolours very well too, so preferred colour shouldn't  be an issue. Really looking forward to this release, Tim!

Got some stuff in. Seems to be working out pretty good!

Had to make some changes to the searchbar due to text color issues in the windows. I think what I've done works just fine! Too bad about the text color on the windowed search bar, but it's just a thing with dark skins. Luckily this will be sorted in the light versions!

I had originally been doing a yellow/gold text color on the black parts, but have gone over to a light gray. The gold was looking too Christmas y for my taste and white seemed too stark, so light gray is a middle road. 

Anyway, getting things wrapped up on the first style probably later today.

Always time consuming when you make changes after you're done with 3 styles!

Anyway, here are the 3 dark ones more or less complete:

If you compare the screeny in reply #23 to #19, you'll see that I have toned down many of the buttons. They just didn't feel right to me....kinda jumped out.....and not in a good way. Feeling better about the look now.
