Sorry to hear you are having trouble.

It would help if we could see what's in your runlog.txt file, it is located in \Documents\My Games\Star Control

If you could upload it to a cloud service (DropBox, Google Drive, One Drive) and post a link here, the developers can take a look at it.

Thank you for your patience and patronage.

Content of that file is short so here it is:

I've sent crash reports (email used in report equals this forum's one)

Its odd that its showing you have zero dedicated memory.  Is there anything unusual in your setup?  Have you tried reducing the quality settings?

Have you tried reducing resolution. What are your specs. Have you tried reallocating your virtual memory.

I didn't tried anything else, game just hangs with unhandled exception and crash report window. Did you checked crash reports I sent?

Tons of other games works fine on my pc with same display settings.

My rig:

Hello,

Sorry to hear you are having trouble.

Game crashes when I hit 'new game'.

Has it ever run - or no - this is your first time playing and it's crashing?

I've sent crash reports (email used in report equals this forum's one)

The forum email account is your a*****[email protected] one.  I do not show any crash submissions from that email.  If you ineed used a different one, could you PM it to me?

Also, from the FAQ here, can you verify that your a letting Windows itself manage your pagefile / virtual memory size?

It's first time I'm trying to run this game, game works fine until I press "new game" button.

I tried different resolutions and fullscreen/borderless with same result.

I tried to run it ~15 times in different moods (after fresh reboot and after a week online etc).

Once it suddenly worked (didnt crashed on new game), but soon after it crashes on first mission while I examined module found on the planetary surface.

The e-mail above is correct, I sent a new crash report today ~10 mins ago.

About the pagefile - I've different setting, it has fixed size eq 16GB. I've 32GB memory installed, so I don't think it's the bottleneck. I'm using fixed pagefile size since windows 95, I guess it's not a time to change the route even with all those SSD "new" disk usage mechanics.

As a test, could you please try allowing Windows to manage it?

I'm having a similar, but different issue when I try to start a new game. I'm running on Xubuntu 18.04, Linux, but trying to use Steam's Proton 4.2-9 to run it under steam's wine engine. Starting a new game just flickers a window in the middle of the screen and vanishes immediately and never lets me do anything else except for change settings and exit. Everything else just silently does nothing.
