I just got back into PC gaming in August, after around 12 year break. (I went Apple for video editing, with the decline of their pro machines and never really liking Final Cut X, I decided to move back to PC.) So I have been on a massive re-introduction to the video game world.

For whatever reason No Man's Sky does not interest me. Star Control (Bought the Beta right away), Star Citizen (Invested), Dual Universe (Plans to Pledge), Starflight (Pledged) and Elite (I want to be at the start of the game, so I am hesitant, I am still debating) all look tempting to me. Maybe because the lack of intelligent aliens? It looks ... Lonely. I want a "lived in universe" with a history. Oh, and what I have seen of there ship design sort of suck (I need to find a ship I fall in love with to get me invested in a space game, or the ability to make my own.)

For what ever reason, No Man's Sky does not call to me, and I enjoy grind-y exploration games. I am wanting to find a reason to play it though. What are your thoughts on it so far?

Well... it was fun in the beginning.

I played with friends, but it's also fun playing on your own.

many places to go, a lot of systems and planets to visit.

but you have 3 main alien races. and that's it. quests are the same and you get to do the same things over and over...

the story is nice but I have done all is needed pretty fast.

right now I am at the "must complete all achievements" phase, and that's just exhausting :)

if you get it for free or in a nice sale, try it. it's not worth the full price.

was hoping SC will come out for PlayStation since that's the only place I can still play with a wife and a kid ;)
