Problem connecting with direct connect/LAN games

Can anyone tell me if there is a problem nowadays with direct connect / LAN games?

I used to be able to make games and play on my local area network, but I haven't been able to lately.

When I try and create a game, a window pops up and says network error: disconnected from game server.

When I try to connect from another computer, I am able to make the game on the other computer, but unable to join it with my primary computer
