Feedback/Replay review

So I have some spare time and some work I can do while watching replays so I will do some reviews if anyone is interested.
Will not give feedback on entire games if not requested specifically, but only openings/earlygame.

Hello,

Wasn't sure if I should post but I played a game and felt like it was worth a try.

I am new and played maybe 4 or 5 games a while back then had to stop. Picked it back up and was trying to learn a bit. At lot of what I know came from the guide linked and a youtube video. Playing the TEC rebels until I get the hang of things.

Edit: changed replays as I played real people in these.(better scenarios)  I try to improve my research(after expanding fully) by starting on the resource area more and trade ports in order to keep my game-play smoother when building some late game ships. Went for 1 cap ship with a fleet as well. Although I questioned using the colonizer vs something like the Marza a lot. Since the Marza seems to be stronger.

Still struggling a bit with ship selection when trying to counter / attack fortified positions. Then knowing which route to go in the Tech tree. Then what to prioritize when focus killing units especially when a star-base and hangars/repairs are involved.

Replay 3 against a non AI however it was my like 6 or 7th game of the day. By this time I finally got a better expansion with more aggressive play butoverall his ships still seem to outmatch me. If he had kept going I think he could of won.

Replay 4 was interesting. It felt close although I can't say. Biggest issue was not knowing how to counter his starbase and hangar setup. I could of avoided it but then my home world was wide open if he attacked. Maybe with patience and a Titan I would of been better but he had to leave and I wanted to see if my fleet had enough power to take out that world. I thought the flak frigates would save me from hanger defense.

Any feedback is appreciated. Although I might be asking in the wrong place.

Replay4? Vs Coalscent as advent.

first 30seconds: The first thing you should do after queing cap and scouts is to put up ur lab. You went civ lab and if you put it up faster you could gotten the T1 cheaper extractor research(two tiers) Making the extractor cost 150 instead of 250. Saving u 600 on just the moon+roid. Then grabbing the terran population upgrade on T1Civ aswell.
also build lab close to your other buildings because it's easier to protect. Also, when opening with marza, you should get 2 colonizer frigates. Always scuttle cap fac on hw to make room for another lab.

Min 1-4: By now you can see that u have Moon+Moon in one direction and greenhouse to another, roid on 3rd. Because it's a small 1v1 map. I'd send my marza to greenhouse to get xp. and i'd snipe both my roid and my moon. Then proceed to jump the colonizer frigate from 1st moon to 2nd moon to snipe that aswell(with turret) By making it do a jump right after it colonized first moon, then jumping to next and run in a triangle. It will get enough antimatter to colonize before it dies.

The moment u scouted the neutrals(plasma storm) you should queue atleast 1 colo frig to go capture them, By now you scouted ur opponent and you see that the greenhouse will be a very important planet. Marza and 3 cobalts is just sitting on moon wasting time.
You are floating alot of resources which could be spent on more research.

5-15. Alot of time is spent doing nothing. Greenhouse should be a priority. Could have colonized 2nd moon faster with initial colo frigate.  Lack of micro on cobalts make you lose 1 before blue arrives. Cobalts sitting on hw could be helping, and you should really be spamming cobalts by now.
I notice you grabbed radiation bomb on marza. I'd recommend getting passive over that first.

15-30: Marza is very strong. U retreated from greenhouse instead of fighting for it. marza could easily handle progen and 5 disciples.
U r researching Krosovs. it's wasted money and especially when you have marza.
Losing marza senselessly.
Talking about unitcounters in chat. Flak->Corvettes->lrm->Lf->Corvettes to some point but mainly Lf->flak. Flak also to some point counter Lrm at a good mass with good micro.
Floating almost 8k. You should open up more shipslots. Get more research and reproduce marza. Or maybe dunov now when you know he got progen.

30-45 Getting hit by culture. You had 3 labs since about 15 minutes in. Culture should be put up asap. Still haven't grabbed 2nd moon.
Floating 13k. You can see that you have bigger fleet and you should take advantage of it. Still haven't rebuilt cap.

45: By now ur allegiance is down to 50%. Losing half ur incomst is bad. Still floating alot(20k) eventually losing all planets.

Wow,

That is a nice level of detail. Thanks for taking the time to review that. I am just starting to realize the value of getting the lab down early and reducing the cost of extractors.

As for the other pieces mentioned I agree. I am still working on counters since I always play rebels. As for cap ship vs cap ship I am just starting to see the advantages of 1 vs the other.

I will try to work on each piece as I learn the cost of things more and how to effectively counter groups of ships.

The micro part though I will say is still hard to see. It's not always clear if the group should focus 1 ship down or use 1 type of ship to target only it's counter. Hopefully I will find what works best eventually.

Counter->what it counters.

Always micro.
