Upcoming Star Control: Origins steam keys notice

I have some good news and I have some bad news.

The good news is that we are on schedule to start delivering Steam keys for testing multiplayer Super Melee this Fall.

The bad news is that Steam gives us a very limited number of keys for testing.  That means that when it comes to the multiplayer testing, we won't be able to give every Founder a Steam key this early (all Founders will get builds under NDA but not all will be Steam builds unless we can negotiate with Valve some way to give out Steam keys without having to use their early access system).

The way we are going to decide who gets keys is base don who is active here as there's no point in sending test keys to people who can't or won't be able to give us feedback.

Lastly, tomorrow's big status update is expected to have video of game play in the Founder's Vault.

Right now, Star Control is a team effort of Stardock + Mohawk + Oxide.  We might also be getting some help from Ironclad. It's a really big project.

This is under NDA as we have not officially announced the involvement of any of these teams.

My body is ready. And my keyboard is almost ready.

I like to think I'm active with regard to anything germane to the subject of Star Control here, though with the dearth of sanctioned discussion and contrasting abundance of threads that are either completely off the rails or steeped in petulant arguments, I feel there hasn't been much to be active about lately. Really looking forward to that changing soon.

That said, I am also quite ready and so is my Corsair Strafe.

:P

Every time my wife sees me on this forum, she says "No, I am the king of the internet." lolololol

Anyways...I think you are active. There are a number of founders who don't even post.

Yeah, I was about to say, if we've interacted at some point, we're likely going to get in. As long as feedback has been given (and according to our latest data, less than 0.5% of Founders even post), I'd say we all have a good chance of getting a key.

Exciting! I'm looking forward to hearing how things are looking on the gameplay end!

I think Kavik will get 2... :P

I don't mind; I'm just keen to see the next update to the Founders Vault. The way updates have been going recently we are getting closer and closer to the point where substantial (and non-theoretical) things can be discussed.

Edit: Secondary note - and I'm keenly awaiting to see how deep the custom/scripting system goes

Essentially anyone posting is going to fit that category.  We have about 500 keys and there's only around 30 people who are reasonably active.  So it's not going to be super tight.

Ok that sounds better. Your initial post sounded like you only had something like 5.

I sense a sudden spike in active posters.

I've got a gamepad... It's not my beloved MicroSoft Sidewinder that they insanely stopped making... but it will have to do.

Microsoft XBox One Elite controller is a solid replacement.

I'll have to look at that and see what is like.  The one I have is just the cheapest one they had so I could have Mortal Kombat on my computer.  Hadn't played it since the earliest versions of it in the late 1980's or whenever that was.  Now I've been messing with it for every once in a while for months.  I like Johnny Cage a lot on the "Komplete" version that I got.  It's fun to make one run at the ladder every once in a while.

Sidewinders were awesome.  Ever since then all other controllers feel like tiny little things that are too small for my hands.  I liked how big MS Sidewinders were, and just how they were designed in general.  I used MS Sidewinders for almost a decade playing Subspace.

Nice.  Other than the one topic I made about physical copies, I just mainly lurk and pop on here now and then, so it's no biggie if I don't get a key in the end.

These are names I've not seen in a long time. See, you make an announcement about keys, and even the people who aren't interested come out of the woodwork ;P

I've been checking the forum daily.  Usually somebody has already said exactly what I'm thinking.  No point in typing it out again.

"Reasonably active!"  That's the nicest thing you've ever said about me!

I'm having a baby tomorrow at 7:30 AM and here I am tonight checking for vault updates...if that's not die-hard, I don't know what is!  :)
