Tywom Auditions

I thought Ben D's and Kyle H's auditions were good, considering that the Tywom probably have soft mouths.

Kyle H is my personal favorite. He'd be perfect if he didn't sound a bit too old.

Definitely not Bryce P.

Second best is Chris S.

Ben D.
The nasally, sniveling lisp is pretty cute. Sounds like a real characterization or a cartoon character, rather than just another voice actor reading lines. It's great when the actor can give an alien a unique characteristic, rather than just reading lines in a regular speaking voice. I think he's one of the best based on what I've seen from the preliminary Tywom renderings.

Bryce P.
Not sure if he's ideally suited to the Tywom, but he reminds me of Nifiwan right off the bat and he is one of the best actors of the whole group. Not sure what tone is intended for the Tywom, but his reading is very enthusiastic and entertaining, so if that isn't what the Tywom are then his talents should be utilized for a different character because I like his energy. Haven't seen the character animations yet so it's hard to tell at this point, but I appreciate that Bryce uses the full range of his voice and is the most articulate of all the auditions, so it's very easy to hear every word of dialog, and his inflections are just fun to listen to.

Kyle
Great Droopy Dog impression, but that's all that the audience is going to hear because it's just derivative of that character. So, no. Make the material your own, please.

Spike
Very bland characterization. His inflections are tonally confused and inconsistent; can't tell what emotion he's actually conveying. And I think he reads through the dialog at a stilted pace.

It would be tremendously insightful to see these dialog clips matched up with some basic conversation animations before passing final judgment. Need to see what the character is like in action to really associate a voice with it.

^ I don't see how high pitched voices fit FAT ugly sLOW Tywom at all. Bryce P. is waaaaaay too high, way too upbeat, way too cartoony.

Kyle H and Spike S were my favorites.

The others tended to be too cartoon clown voices for my liking.

Man, Ben D.'s delivery and timing were perfect, but Spike S.'s tone and voice in general were overall better, imo.

My vote is for Ben D and Chris S.  If I had to pick one I would go with Ben D.

I agree though that it would be nice to match these up to something so we can see if they suit the aliens.

My two cents on the voice acting samples

I've listened to the 6 voice actor samples for the Tywom race and I have 3 of them that I prefer in general. I would rank them in this order: Chris S, Ben D, and then Spike S.

The accent that Chris S has reminds me of the character Kolrami in the Star Trek TNG episode Peak Performance. He sounds full of himself, will back down when pushed, but won't run away entirely.

Ben D sounds mischievous but not very brave, will completely fall off the map if scolded.

Spikes S reminds me of Dr. Phlox from Star Trek enterprise. Helpful, forthright, willing to bend the rules if needed, doesn't want to make mistake, will not break down completely when chastised.
