How many founders there are? (More or less)

How Many founders members?

Just wish to know how many people will be accepted into the founders program, because i read about how they want to keep the numbers relatively "small" for better communication

I asked the same question in the welcome thread...

This was the response from Vaelzad

We are limiting how many of the special founder's editions where you get to name a planet. We aren't releasing that number right now.

We may do another founder's invite in the future but that invite will be different and not as special as the one you all joined.

We are trying to keep the number in the low hundred.  I expect we'll be closing the program to new entries by Christmas. :)

Wow I'm actually surprised and honored.

When I got the invitation email and saw the price tag I was wondering if it had all been a marketing scheme.

After all the survey did ask for how many Steam Games I own... and I own over 200 games in steam.... plus a couple dozen outside of steam.

But then again maybe they want dedicated people that CAN pay for the game.

Still it feels good to know that it wasn't some sort of marketing ploy to selectively 'choose' those who would be very inclined to buy/prepurchase a SC game.

Yes I am a sucker for SC.

I Felt the same in the beginning Xenove, i mean, i cant believe i actually got in, SC is one of my favorite games of all time (mainly the second one) the price WAS a problem here in brazil (a "little"above the dollar) but, i think it'll be worth it, so happy actually!

The Star Control sub-reddit (/r/starcontrol), albeit small, has a bit of conjecture that the Founders program is a scam/marketing scheme/money grab.  I completely disagree... if you don't place a value on becoming a Founder, ppl wouldn't take it seriously. I feel privileged to be a part of this, having a direct channel to voice my thoughts and ideas to the game-makers.  As a developer myself, I know its invaluable to have the ear of the dev/design team, to plant the seeds of inspiration.

Well what made me believe that it may not be a scam is the fact that I have paid more than that amount in various kickstarter projects (for games).

So if I just think of this as another kickstarter project or prepurchase then it doesn't feel like a scam and in fact looks quite in line with the whole prepurchase trend.

After all it is a respected company in the game industry making this offer and not some kid in his basement claiming to be the brother-in-law to Paul Reiche III or Fred Ford (using wikipedia as proof), and that he has received their blessings to create a sequel.

Don't you guys worry! it looks like some are still trying to prove to themselves that this is real! it shows not only caution, but excitement!

^_^ Believe me, if it was a scam, the internet would be all over it here, and i don't see many posts about this popping in, so, i trust them!

(not saying that you guys are saying otherwise)
