speed limit 5 parsecs on immense

i recently reinstalled galcivII after reading about III and deciding its not ready for me yet, anyway, 2x now I've launched immense games and each time the event has occurred that forces ships to go no more than 5p/wk, on a midsize map i'd enjoy the change in strategy but when i have 600 worlds to conquer its a little tedious.

has anyone modded the game to prevent this specific even from occurring? i like most of the epic events and i want to play with them, but this is too much. oddly i'd played this game from 2007 to 2012 without this event ever occurring once so i kept hoping for it to end but it never does. is there a way i can edit my save file to remove this specific term? i'm 20 hours into the map and i'd rather not just quit.

thanks for your consideration.

Yah, I hate the 5 Parsec and Jagged Knife events.  I will often back up and re-run the last few turns since the events aren't fixed but random and will seldom recur.

Now, with 600 worlds on your map, the 5 Parsec event shouldn't make all that much difference.  There will always be something going on, even at a slow pace.  But with Uncommon/Tight/Immense, it could be as maddening as real interstellar warfare.  Launch a fleet and it is guaranteed to be obsolete when it gets to enemy space?  I dunno...

I see this won't help your current situation, but I was able to turn this off (including the Jagged Knife events) during game setup by un-toggling 'Mega Events'.  But yeah you lose all the other mega events though, as well.I like 'immense' galaxies too, games that take a month or more to get through.  With Core i7 and 16GB ram I still need to close/restart the game between turns near endgame; there's some kind of memory leak.

just turn down your graphic options, guess with large maps you play zoomed out most of the time, anyway.

and to "prevent" the event: quicksave before pressing turn - and reload if something not wanted happens. cheesy but events are hardcoded and can't be modded out or anything.
