SoaSE: Trinity on Windows 8.1 doesn't work

The only thing I gain is a black screen

Hi everyone.

Before I start, I would apologize for my english: it's not my first language, so I will probably make errors.

I bought a copy of "Sins of a Solar Empire: Trinity" in a videogames shop, some years ago. At that time I had a laptop with Windows 7 and the game works well, without problems.

Now I finally built a gaming-pc by myself and I'm re-installing all my old games.

I installed Trinity without obvious problem but when I start the game the nightmares begins.

The game starts, but after a few second of black screen with music, everything stops and I remain looking at my television, which i use as a monitor, which show me the (transleted) message "No signal", like if the tv wasn't connected to anything or couldn't receive any signal. The strange thing is that when I hit the Windows button and return to the desktop, there's the icon of the game in the taskbar. If  I take the mouse on it, it is shown the window with the game, working, and the music start; if I click on the icon on the taskbar to return to the game, I return to the same black screen, with the same message, and no sound, no images.

I've tried many solution: compatibility with Windows 7, xp (service pack 2 and 3), reducted range of colors, resolution at 640x480 ... No one works.

I don't understand if the problem is in my tv or in the game, and wherever it is, how to fix it.

Please, help me: I like very much this game and it would be a shame for me having a worth computer but couldn't play this game.

I have Windows 8.1 and an Asus GTX 980 strix.

Thanks to everyone who will respond.
