Is Sins Finally dead?

Less crack, more sleep.

sins is dying, my beloved community.

There are still several 5 on 5 PvP games (real Sins games) every day, so it's not totally dead yet.  Online Multiplayer PvP activity has pretty much been business as usual.  Of course, so few people play it in online PvP that the game has been on life support ever since the first several months after its release back in early 2008..

Sins is one the highest ranked Strategy game in many gaming sites and its definitely deserves that respect. The one thing i do know is sins is largely played offline than online but that doen't reflect the total number of sales because of pirated copies. 

The fact that the game is small in file size means its easily downloadable for legal and illegal copies and its size helps digital distribution  for users with capped internet usage. Ofcourse in todays world you get unlimited connections from many ISPs so its less of problem than it was 10 years ago. 

What i do know is Sins is a cool game but it can be made even more so by getting rid of the 2gb limit because they have pretty much run out of space for a major expansion pack with more content. 

Uh what are you talking about? Check moddb more often, Rebellion has more mods regularly in the top 100 than it has ever had in the previous expansions, some of them are barely a year old (since they've been playable anyways). While unfortunately activity on the mod forums here has declined thanks to steam and the increasing importance of moddb, overall I'd say the mod scene is just as healthy as it has ever been.

There are still people playing multiplayer.

Not currently. Ironclad may be working on another project right now but they are still around and they may start up a Sins 2 on their own.

I'd love to see a SINS 2!

Hah, sins was "dead" before it went to steam.  Now I don't think it will "die" until sins 2, as long as sins 2 doesn't suck.  I'd like to playtest Sins 2 and be a voice (among others in the community) that tell the developers what they don't want to hear, but what they probably should hear.  

I hope the developers can take that criticism, it will make them a better product.

I played SINS a ton back in the day, but even in 2008-2009, there was not a great following online.  I think the last I really played much was after entrenchment and around the time diplomacy was released.  At that time it was the casual players doing comp stomps on original sins and the hardcore gamers on diplomacy.  

I've been online a few times recently, but have yet to see another player waiting in the lobby.  I didn't buy Rebellion ($40 is a bit stiff of a price for a single player expansion), so I've been looking around of original sins and diplomacy.  So far nothing.
