There's going to be a big announcement next month that I think will make Sins players happy.

More copies of Sins of a Solar Empire will likely be sold this year than last year.  The biggest challenge Ironclad/Stardock have had is how to fit "more" stuff.  But I think there's a lot of Meta related stuff that could expand the Sins experience a great deal.

He said that on July 1st.  He said next month.  July = month 7.  7+1 = 8.  Month 8 = August.

Just wait... It'll be something like a dlc for more character portraits.

(Note: I'm doing this to prevent myself from being disappointed if isn't what we all hope for)

Better yet... A statement along the lines of the following...

Sins II development has begun. Due to the fact that the game has strayed too far from the original vision, we will be going back to the core of the game. The best way we believe we can accomplish this is by releasing Sins II on the original Iron Engine that brought the first edition so much success. Some will question this decision, but it is or firm belief that this familiarity with the code will undoubtedly benefit the players in the long run.

Due to one of the best features of the Iron Engine, we will be removing starbases, titans, and corvettes as they conflict with our vision of a 32 bit compatible sequel.

We will be collaborating with EA for product life cycle, Comcast for networking assistance, Adobe for UI response time and security, and Zynga regarding pricing.

Sincerely,

Brad Wardell

Now that would be terrible...

... August 2nd ...

Still waiting....

And crying

my guess would be a new ship picture with sins2 beside it, just like goliath for rebellion

I'd be satisfied if the thread was simply titled "announcement" and the contents simply said "2"

Does anyone have any reasonable theories aside from Sins II as to what it would be?

Top-down shooter for tablets/phones, where you shoot down incoming Kortuls with your Ragnarov

alternatively comic book with a story taking place in Sins metaverse, little plastic titans inside chocolate Kinder-eggs or resin model of Vorastra in 1:1 scale.

I'm pretty sure.

Upcoming Stardock games including Galactic Civilizations III, Mohawk Games’ Offworld Trading Company, and Oxide Games' unannounced title using the Nitrous engine will all use Project Tachyon in some capacity.

I'm still waiting for that announcement which I'm not sure if it will be a Sins 2 or not but I imagine it will at least be a spiritual successor based on the demo.

They said star swarm was a demo and was not to be a game.

I too am hoping that the oxide title will be sequel, but... This announcement does match up with what he suggested...

Oh yes I know Star Swarm itself wouldn't be a game but whatever game it is I imagine it will be a space based RTS. But yes, Tachyon is quite "Meta related".

Project Tachyon, which will manage the online infrastructure to provide the meta-game experience for Stardock games.

It's hard to say.  While on one hand I want to comment that he should've said "will make Stardock players happy," he does go on for another whole couple of lines repeating how Sins is going to benefit from something.  But if we're not getting updates anymore... how do we benefit?

He also mentions their challenge on "how to fit "more" stuff."  Fit more what stuff?  Stuff in the game?  That'd be a 32 <-> 64 bit challenge.  Just more features?  That might be this Tachyon as that is Meta... but that's not till next year, yet he implies benefits this year.

AARGH is right! :P

I never thought that the two statements were connected. I just figured the comment on sales was a projection of sales based on how many they've been selling on steam sales.

I've also been keeping a close eye on this forum, too, waiting to see what the big announcement will be.

The Tachyon announcement is what I was referring to.

We have set up a studio in Austin Texas to build a kind of Battle.net type system so that our players can have a much much better multiplayer experience.

In short, we've been listening to your feedback and then have taken that feedback and devised a plan on what we would need to do to address it. :)
