There's going to be a big announcement next month that I think will make Sins players happy.

More copies of Sins of a Solar Empire will likely be sold this year than last year.  The biggest challenge Ironclad/Stardock have had is how to fit "more" stuff.  But I think there's a lot of Meta related stuff that could expand the Sins experience a great deal.

In short, we've been listening to your feedback and then have taken that feedback and devised a plan on what we would need to do to address it. :)

So is Sins getting Tachyon support in the next year or something? Because otherwise this announcement is a non-factor.

Sounds like it!  Se below.

Sins, by the nature of its maps, has the ability to have random maps in MP.

I don't know how many of you saw that we hired the guy who helped make Battle.net for Blizzard but that was recently announced and he's leading the team that's going to be building the backend to allow us to make sure our games have a much better meta experience.

So for instance, what I'd like to see with Sins is that players can optionally press a button and have it find another person, put them in a game and off they go with it keeping some Meta tracking of results.

And that last paragraph proves the devs know little about the nature of sins MP. The core of the game has always been 5v5, not 1v1. Introducing teammates add a level of depth and complexity that is so huge its akin to 1v1 basketball and 5v5 basketball.

I remember Frogboy promising very similar things in the run up to Rebellion. Look at how that panned out.

Honestly I wish the 1v1 scene was better. I might be playing online more.  ;)

Very true, but I like the sound of this more than "No more updates ever".

The Tachyon announcement is what I was referring to.

We have set up a studio in Austin Texas to build a kind of Battle.net type system so that our players can have a much much better multiplayer experience.

In short, we've been listening to your feedback and then have taken that feedback and devised a plan on what we would need to do to address it. :)
Right on, right on, right on.  Fo shizzle my nizzles!

Indeed he did and at that time did not realize how archaic and scrambled the ICO was until they attempted to update/improve it. This announcement says they are now throwing out the old code and rebuilding a whole new system. The fact that they now have a pro (let's face it, Stardock games are rarely true multiplayer) to help them says a lot.

What!?  No Steam trading cards!?

(Thanks Brad)

There already are trading cards

I suppose we could ask for more

Still wish Sins 2 was the announcement

Chances are that announcement would come from Ironclad, not Stardock.

My "Sinperium" password isn't working and the reset requests end up on Ruby Rhod.  I'm working on it.
