Whoever gave me Karma today, and then retracted it a couple hours later...

Why?

How did I offend you?

I swear, my hard drive's death will be quick and painless. I won't make it suffer.

I do not believe it is even possible to withdraw Karma. I don't see any way to do it so it's probably just another WC glitch.

Karma cannot be deducted...only added.

Possibly someone from the Federation who survived the battle of Wolf 359?

You didn't offend me...honest.... but then I wasn't the indian giver who gifted karma to bluntly take it away.  O:)

In fact, I so rarely think about karma anymore, giving or receiving it, that I'd have to hunt down the karma button's location, since it was moved a while back.  I guess the reason for that is I saw too many petty reasons for giving it - or not giving it - and in the end it bacame more a thing of bragging rights than a true token of appreciation of a members contribution(s)/value to the site(s).

I know that I got karma for some completely ridiculous reasons - if you could call them reasons - and I felt like it was just a: "Look, I gave you karma, now gimme some back" .

Nah, it wasn't introduced for that... to be like a buddy system favouring the 'in-crowd' and not others., and frankly, if that's the way it is going to be used, I wouldn't care one iota if it was scrapped entirely

Now if only a handful of members would gratuitously and randomly give me shiploads of karma for doing absolutely eff all at all, then maybe I'll reach the grand by week's end... cos being stuck on this 914 for an eternity has me so frustrated I require an extra pill daily to calm me down.

:-" ;P

It was me. I didn't like the cut of your jib.

I'm sorry. Try cutting it differently next time, YOU MURDERER.

Karma is not retractable. Mine drags the runway on hard landings all the time, or I'd have thousands....oh, wait, I do have thousands.

I have passed some on to you as test karma,  ;)

It's not just your karma that drags, old mate.  Just admit it comes with age and accept that lots of things drag these days.

For me it's my stomach.... and if it weren't for the jockstrap. :X :-" :w00t:

Well shoot. All this time I just thought gravity was getting stronger. ;P

It is gravity for most things. The things you want gravity to take over just get smaller the older you get.

It's add only.  If you see it alter downwards it will be a server update/reset discrepancy which sorts itself out eventually...;)

Thanks everyone foe your replies and help.

It's very strange. I understand you can't retract karma, but I swear it went up and then decreased soon after.

Weird.

The karma was regarding a comment in XWerewolfX's Derek/Dragon thread from a member I'm unfamiliar with.

I don't think I was seeing things, but then again, I was working on a volume forecast at the time which is all smoke and mirrors, and may have effected my judgement... :)

This was just a sneaky ploy to get people to give you Karma, wasn't it?

You got me!

No, honestly it wasn't.

I guess it's like one of those times when you hear a noise in your car, but when you take it to the mechanic, the noise goes away.

At our age, when things seems so much closer to the ground - belly and other 'boneless' appendages - it IS gravity getting stronger.  Well that's my story and I'm sticking to it.... cos in fact it's not really my belly.  Due to gravity my chest has slipped.

Hmmm!  Now, if I'm following that line of thinking, why is it I have an appendage where the complete opposite is true? :S

I think what question you should be asking is "why does Karma matter?"

They're like collecting  McDonald's monopoly streets.....nothing ever becomes of them.

Karma please!

It doesn't matter, but when you're helpful, funny or insightful, it's nice to get a nod every now and then.

Of couse if you have 2000 karma already, it doesn't mean as much.

But the karma here is nothing compared to some other forums where "likes" flow ...like water. (no, not FB)

Heck, I once got 14 likes simply by posting a picture of a wild turkey that wandered through my yard.

Says who? I value each one as much now as I did when I had 20. :inlove:

I've also given out over 8000 kp for those reasons and more. That's a lot of nods. ;)
