Elite Founder Star Naming is Live!

Elite Founder Star Naming is Live!

https://www.galciv3.com/nameastar

Elite Founders can submit their star names – and their names to be included in the special thanks credit – for Galactic Civilizations III today. Simply head to https://www.galciv3.com/nameastar and login with your Stardock account (that you purchased the Elite Founders edition with) to submit your names.

Please note that any content Stardock deems inappropriate will invalidate your entire submission. We keep open minds and Galactic Civilizations III is certainly not a series that takes itself so seriously that we have to outlaw anything funny or off-beat, but profanity, trademark- or copyright-infringing content, or any kind of slurs or hate speech will not be accepted.

Star naming and special-thanks credits submissions will remain open until the alpha ends and beta begins, which will likely be toward the end of May. Please remember that any plan can be derailed in the face of the realities of game development, but that’s the timeframe we’re aiming for.

Many thanks to all of our Founders for their support. Your feedback, both on the official forums or via the Galactic Civilizations III Steam forums, has already been extremely helpful in making this the best game it can possibly be.

They already say "and will be converted to title case in-game (only first letter capitalized)." so no worries about capitalization in weird places.

As for YOLO, this is for IslandDog: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6uWz8iRjCiA

I'm so glad to see that numbers are going to be allowed.  I'll be editing my star to my anniversary :D

Youre back! long time no see!

Yeah, glad to see you to. :) Well, sort of - internetically speaking. Got a lot of work, played GC3 for only a couple of hours. Thinking about changing Getoffmylawn into "Stupidcustomers" or "Nomoreblueprints".

I wish there are binary star systems, then I would name my stars Surely and Serious!

Thanks! :) Glad to see you too.

While browsing through submitted names, I wonder, why if we have Gagarin and Armstrong, we have no Tsiolkovsky, Oberth, Goddard, Korolyov? I admit, I don't have spare 500$ to buy more elite founders edition to name at least these people, but maybe devs could increase their basic list, to honour those people who made cosmonautics possible?

THere are some really curious names in the list. Very nice that name declaring love for Julia.

We can edit the name of the star that's already been accepted?  Good news.  Would like to capitalize one letter.  How do we submit for an edit?  :)

If you log in, you will see a link to edit your entry ("submit a new star name"). Also: "Star names are limited to 16 letters/numbers/spaces (no punctuation, please), and will be converted to title case in-game (only first letter capitalized)."

Requiem

Fugue

Heisenberg (in honor of B.Bad) or LosPollosHermanos

Lucifer (the morning star)

Hornswoggle (to trick someone)

Milliways (restaurant at the end of the universe)

HoboHarbor (for poor folks)

Kludge (the star system where MurphysLaw (another good one) was invented)

OccamsRazor (the star system where analytical thinking reigns)

Would you anticipate any copyright issues using a fictional name from my currently unpublished science fiction story?

If it involves sci-fi, it would most likely be a no from me.

Do you mean, no, you don't see any copyright issues or no, you wouldn't approve it (assuming you somehow knew what it was other than because I told you.) I'm thinking the former, but I've been around lawyers before and they're not normal... :)

Yes, you can colonize "Camelot", but it is a silly place.

There are now 3036 names in the list. Congrats Stardock.

It would be something I would not likely approve.

Did I miss the thing ? I do not see any link on the page. I know I'm late, but I forgot about the feature and I did not receive a mail about when the star naming feature was opened.

So is it still opened or am I screwed ?

Forget that just saw the message written in black on a black background
