Test post for personal icon
Can you see my new personal icon? It is a picture of Miles Davis's hand.
Can you see my new personal icon? It is a picture of Miles Davis's hand.
Test #2
I can't tell you if it belongs to Miles Davis, but it is a hand.
Thank you, erischild. This is odd. Everything else is there; the name, Join Date, etc, but not the picture. (on my comp, anyway) Nobodies picture shows. Now, the folk that don't have one show the white alien, and on the GalCiv site show that face, but but most, like yours and mine, are blank (the pic)
Now when I have bookmarked and saved the page, I can open the file, and everything looks normal. Odd.
Anyway, thank you again for the reply. It is the most helpful one I have received, and I have been dealing with their supposed help desk.
Are you sure you don't have an ad blocker that is erroneously blocking them or something?
What an honor writing to you sir. In answer to your question, I have CCCleaner, Spybot-S&D, both pros;and also use avast!, again the pro version. They have never blocked anything that I did not want them to. Now, I changed my avatar, and also put in a personal image, and they went into the "images" part of the account with no problem. However, the old avatar stayed on my posts, and also on the "user information" part of my profile. Now, this was quite annoying, so I worked at it and was able to remove them. This, I believe caused the current problem. The new avatar and personal image disappeared, and when I try to add them back, I get a message: "The image you have selected (xxxxx.jpg) does not meet the size requirements. Please try again". I have tried to set a number of different pictures in the avatar, all of the correct size, and even smaller, down to 50x50, but still the same message. This is also the time that I noticed that my forum pic as well as everyone else's was gone. The rest of the info is there- yours for example: kryo, Join Date 05/2003, +403, and the grand Stardock, but no picture. Now, pictures do exist; but only the basic picture of people who haven't chosen a picture. On this forum, it is the alien, and on the GalCiv is the man's face. Everyone else's avatar showed until I was able to pull my old one, which again, started the major problem, in my opinion.
Now comes the rub. I do not remember how/where I removed them. I should have written it down. You see, I have cancer. Now, this is not the important thing, but during my treatment(s) my immune system was compromised, and I was stricken by a particularly bad virus. It took me 5 weeks to get over it. Just 1 week in the hospital (good), and the other 4 weeks at home. I had to take three 2 hour IVs a day for those 5 weeks, but I survived. Unfortunately, I received brain damage. Now, I can still remember most things; I was a chef for ~40 years, studying in Provence, Italy, and from coast to coast. I could write a thousand recipes, no problem, and have replayed GalCiv2, and had no problem. It is just some of the smaller, recent things that I sometimes have a problem with, and we are back to the rub.
I have been dealing with Brad Ather, he has been very helpful, all things considered, and was able to place the new avatar up, so at least it can be seen by others, which is great, but I would like to see them as well. It is [#HIE-897-76635], and I will send this to him if you don't mind, because this info was going his way anyway. He's a good man, and I'm glad that he picked this one up. (happier than he is, I'm sure) ,-)
I found out that when I use Internet Explorer, everything shows as it should. No probs whatsoever. It is obviously something with Firefox. Looks like I'll be using this one for our conversations and gameplay. No problem, really; I'll just have to learn how to properly use it. I have not used this particular one in years. Thank you for your help. Mistralok
Everything is OK in Chrome.
Thank you rodolfopellegrino. So the problem is definitely with Firefox. I'll keep looking, but I have serious doubts that I will find what the problem is. The game itself plays as it should through Firefox, but when I start it with Steam, the Title does not show on the opening page. Strange. The game itself plays correctly though.
I have heard good things about Chrome, but I have 2 of them already installed, so I probably won't install it. Now, I have said this type of thing before, so there is a 50/50 chance that I will try it anyway.
Again, thank you for the information. It has been helpful. The best of luck to you, and maybe we will be able to speak again. Mistralok
