Is there another app I should have used to get the imagery with the music?

What imagery?

All I got was music (except for the Yor ships) when I told FireFox to use Windows Media. Is there another app I should have used to get the imagery with the music?

They are just audio tracks.  No imagery or video with them.

Wasn't "A New Beginning" the original name for DL's title theme?

I opened it in VLC Media Player at work earlier.  There was a little skeleton dude on the display, but only while the Title track was playing.  I redownloaded it at home and played it with VLC and there's no image.

I'll check again tomorrow at work.

Maybe that skeleton thing is a VLC easter egg for Halloween and only present in certain versions?

For some reason, some of the files are being named "GalCiv3-A.htm" when I try to download them. As in, when I try to download them, their names start out as "GalCiv3-A.htm". They don't play when I double click them. Instead, they open a gibberish webpage.

However, if I rename them after downloading them, or rename them before downloading them, to whatever their name should be, then they work fine. Actually, changing the file extension to .mp3 (can be done with renaming if you can see file extensions) is sufficient to get them working.

Well this is a pleasant surprise, I just purchased the Founder's Edition because I love GalCiv and really wanted Alpha and Beta access. Now I am really happy I decided to. Here's to hoping cool stuff keeps coming out.

Good stuff.

Mainly just posting to see my shiny new badge!

Could you add a date when the files were added? Or not sort alphabetically? Or sort by date? Or show an icon that says new in bold red letters? Something to distinguish between old and new files.

Right now, it is a little bit difficult to determine which files are new. File A might be new, file B might be old, File C might be new, etc. Right now the list is small so it is possible to figure them out without too much difficulty, but if the list gets bigger and bigger...

GalCiv3-A long twilight.mp3
GalCiv3-A new beginning.mp3
Rejected Thalan warning voice.wav
Ship Designer - Advanced Mode Toolset.jpg

All want to save as an htm file. They work properly when renaming the extension but it's not a nice way of doing things.

Also, is there an NDA on this stuff????

edit: typo

There's no NDA on discussion. But don't redistribute them.

As for having problems downloading, I think it depends on your browser. I just right click and save-as.

Must be a setting. FF 23.0.1 and FF 25 are both giving me this behaviour. I can live with it though.

Would love to see the track(s) from the Trailer posted.

Some thoughts regarding the new additions:

1. Why am I not surprised, that a song of the Altarians is called "Elemental"? ;)  It also sounds pretty good, but that's to be expected. I already love the other songs.

2. "Yor Singularity" is just... great. Cold. Menacing. Industrial. It really drives home that, if you go up against the Yor, you'll get wiped out. Swift and without error. Or mercy, for that matter. }:)

3. Speaking of the Yor, the artwork looks great too, but also a bit disconcerting. I think, it's the "eyes". They just look... weird. Oh well, it shouldn't be a problem for me to get used to them. I mean, it's not me, who's going to have to look at those eyes, after all.

4. The "Crusader" artwork was already shown by Frogboy in his teaser post for the announcement, so it isn't new. It still looks good overall. With the exception of the legs. They just look a bit too stiff. Especially around the knees.

5. The artwork of the "Arcean Surface" looks great, but not quite as I expected it. Arcea was bombed from space. You would think, that there is more damage, especially to the ground.

6. The Mass Driver concept art looks fine. Bigger question, though, is, if they also work just as well.

7. "Xendar Servant". Now that's an artwork I don't get at all. Don't get me wrong, it looks great, but the Xendar have been wiped out by the Terrans. Why would you make artwork for a extinct race?

Those are not your daddies Yor as they look more like Geth. The art of the Xendar looks great too.

The art design looks much more muture in general which is good news.

That Yor Leader is badass. As far as Yor asses go.

Do they have...? Nevermind.

The only problem I see with the Arcean Surface one, is that the ground is too clean/flat.

Cannot wait to see those Crusaders in action! :D
