Activation limit?

Hello forums.

I recently bought my new laptop, and have run into an issue trying to play sins of a solar empire rebellion. whenever I launch the game, and try to register my game, i am given the message "activation limit reached".

now, why is there an activation limit, and how do I fix this issue? I have a lot of different machines that have had sins installed, and have had several failed hard drives, so ive probably installed this game far more than normal. i dont want to have to stop playing because stardock decided to limit my game installs like Ubisoft does. and i dont want to have to pirate the game in order to play it.

Did you install it multiple times in one day? I don't think there is an absolute limit to the number of times you can activate the game but the devs have said that can happen if there are an unusual number of activations in a fairly short period of time. :S

no. the last time I activated it was when my old laptops hard drive died. ive lest steam alone since I first tried, and just now tried again. same error.

there was a couple of old posts about activation limits a couple of years ago (ie long before steam got the game), and from what I remember the activation counts are very high, but also check the ip address(apparently the range of address is somewhat restricted compared to the original activation ie if activated from a different country it might be refused(this is from what I remeber from reading the threads in thedistant past))

and from whqat I remember if there is issues with the activation you have to email support @ stardock.com

hope this helps

The activation limit is 1000 times per minute IIRC.
