Wierd problem

Help!

Got a wierd problem on startup.

 

Current steam version with Forbidden Worlds DLC, all drivers up to date (release, not beta drivers) and game files verified through steam

 

First time played last night everything fine, went to play now and the game starts fine to main menu, then no matter what I click on it crashes (black screen with the "Sins of a solar empire rebellion has stopped working" windows box.

No changed to system since I purchased the game yesterday.

Any help?

Sometimes a windows update makes changes to your system. Maybe something was changed by that. If you can, go back to a restore point just before such an update.

And if that is not the case, then your system may be unstable due to some memory or harddisk failure. Check your harddisk SATA connections just to be sure and do a memory test.

(I had some troubles with strange seemingly random crashes in games a while back, and that was caused by a SATA cable that wasn't connected properly anymore.)
