Tuesday night MP game

Got into a 5v5 typical game last night, some skilled, some noob.  Amazingly the map placement started everyone off pretty evenly.  As luck would have it, I ended up right next to Fuhrer, so he and I duked it out for the first 20 minutes.  Fuhrer decided to use an Orky rush strategy on my HW which I was ill prepared for.  Amazingly enough I managed to kill his Orky at the last minute, but lost my Evacuator.  I breathed a little easier figuring I could manage the loss of my cap ship...nope, not even a minute later there's another Orky starting to build on my HW.  No way I could kill it off with the frigates I had.  My planets were toasted...I tried to rebuild elsewhere but couldn't get any real resources coming in at all.

I decided to go back and watch the recording.  What made the difference for Fuhrer's strategy to succeed was a little extra feed from his team's eco player.  He probably could have pulled it off had he not received feed, but it would have taken a little longer and the results might have been different.  Our team also had an eco player but it took him longer to get stuff going, and I never received one bit of feed.

So, next match with Fuhrer should be interesting.

Well Doci/Fuhrer is currently in the top 2 players on ICO, so dont feel bad losing to him. Whats your ICO nick?

Is there a ranking somewhere I'm missing?  I'll take another look on the forums.  I play as Uberstew.

not really, there isnt a current ranking, I think he keeps tracking the pro players in his head, what he sees from skilled games, who is still playing, etc..

Correct. The community is small enough so pretty much anyone active knows the skill level of other active players. When i cap my games i pretty much know everyone and their skill level in any game. You are also now added to my mental list now that i know who you are :)

Man, I need some of that bionic robo-tech, too. I am still using paper-n-pencil for my lists.

As a public service annoucement to all Sins players, if you're ever attacking your enemy and you come across a mine field, be sure to clear it out with ships that can withstand the damage or use something else like carriers, etc.

As I'm sure the talk has already made the rounds, I lost the majority of my vette/assailant/skirmisher fleet trying to kill kbroke's titan this weekend.  His titan was literally down to about 900 points of hull left before going boom...he jumped out in time to a friendly planet that just so happened to have some mines set up.  I followed, told fleet to attack the titan as primary, then diverted my attention back to my other planet to build more ships.  In that short time frame the ships followed the titan blindly right through the mines and my fleet was gone.

So anyway...live and learn.
