This is an AAR of a game that i am currently playing and i am only a few years in, the settings are

After 60 years of war on Earth the warring factions united and banded together as the Terran Confederation with the hopes of exploring the galaxy and spreading humanity across the stars. In the year 2221 George Zeffer invented the Hyperdrive which allowed ships to travel faster than light. The Zeffer drive became very popular and within the next 6 years the Terran Confederacy launched numerous Colony Ships in all directions and explorer ships to find habitable planets. In January of 2226 the TCS Ticonderoga colonized Mars, the first colony was dubbed Utopia Planitia and plans were set in motion to build a massive shipyard in orbit. In October of 2226 Mining Colonies where established in the Asteroid Belt in the Sol System, The Confederacy continued to expand. By the closing of 2226 3 star systems had been colonized, Leto,Thebes, and Midgard.

As 2227 rolled in the Terran Confederation found itself in a horrible recession, the rampant spending of the government of colonizing the nearby star system had left  the Confederation on the verge of Bankruptcy. Luckily President Alan Bradley and his cabinet met and approved the Colonization Act which allowed the colonies to have a say in the senate and vote in elections for who they wanted to run the Confederation. The Senate also approved numerous acts which allowed the economy to begin climbing. By March of 2227 the Confederation had resumed it's colonization program. In March 3 star systems where colonized and Confederate Scientists Jeofferey Skullens and Dr. Ellen Broad researched technology which would allow the Confederacy to colonize Aquatic and Heavy Gravity worlds. In June of 2227 the Confederation made contact with the Torian Confederation, both confederations exchanged technologies one of which was the hyperdrive. The Humans without knowing had opened pandora's box and now a race for expansion had begun.

2228 brought relief to the Confederation as the other races slowed down on colonization which allowed the Confederation to expand even more. In June of 2228 The TCS Enterprise discovered the Lentzlandians a race of alien humanoids who inhabited the Lentzlandian System. The Terran Confederation signed multiple treaties with the Lentzlandians including Trade, Economic, and an alliance between both powers. The rest of the year was quiet as the remaining colony ships had not reached their destinations or where still being built.

The Year 2229 brought prosperity to the Confederation as Alan Bradley won his first re-election as President of the Confederation. In July of 2229 the confederation completed the Utopia Planitia Fleet Shipyards in orbit of Mars, immediately after the shipyards completion newly assigned Fleet Admiral George Turner ordered construction to begin on the first warship the "Luna Class Destroyer". Later that year diplomatic relations were opened up with The Torian Confederation and a trade agreement was signed allowing both civilizations to trade. By November of 2229 over 25 Sectors had been colonized or claimed by the Terran Confederation. As the year closed the Torian and Terran borders met and a string of worlds on that border would bring trouble.

**GNN News Report** Good evening and thank you for allowing us in your living room, as always im matt campagna reporting her at the GNN news desk in Washington D.C. tonight the whole confederation sits on a knifes edge as tensions rise with the Torian Confederation as both Confederations have colonized planets in 5 different systems on the same border. Recently Torian Ships have fired on Confed ships injuring some and causing minor damage. Yesterday in an emergency cabinet meeting President Alan Bradley proposed on continuing diplomacy with the Torian Confederation in hopes that war can be averted. Also Today construction has been sped up at the Utopia Planitia Shipyards on building warships for our defense in the case that war begins. We now go to our news team on the Zeus IV Colony on the border worlds where preperations are being made for war. go ahead jim your on.

Well thank you Matt as you can see behind me the elements of the 6th Confederate Marine Division are constructing fortifications for the likely event that war breaks out. Zeus IV is thought to be a major strategic planet in the border worlds and Confederate High Command has done everything possible to be able to protect the planet. Now this information is coming minute by minute so i'll get back to you  when some new information has arrived, back to you matt.

here's the continuation

2230 brought heartache to the confederation as they had to give up the border worlds to the Torians, 36 billion people were now Torian Citizens and 6 planets had been lost. But Alan Bradley promised that the Borderworlds would be brought back into Confederate control soon. But before his promise could be fullfilled he died of cardiac arrest while adressing the senate on February 5th. The Next day Vice President Laura Roslin succeeded Bradley as president and she promised to uphold the values bradley cherished so much. In june of 2230 6 Luna Class Destroyers were completed and launched as the 1st Confed fleet to the borderworlds region to do a recon in force of Torian disposition. In the october elections Laura Roslin wins by a 5% difference and is elected for her first term as president of the Confederation, her first act as president is Executive Order 532 which permits construction of the Concordia Class Battlecruiser the future backbone of the Confederate Navy, Construction also begins on the Warlock Class Frigate in November.

The year 2231 brought relief to the Terran Confederation as tensions eased with the Torians, The main reason for this being the Dominion of Korx had declared war on
the Torian confederation. See the Dominion of Korx wanted to topple the Torians government and on January 6th 2231 a Korx special ops team moved into Toria city
and attempted kill the Torian Chancellor at a military parade in Toria City. Unfortunately the attempt fail and the bullet that was meant for the Chancellor instead killed the Minister of Defense. 2 days later the United Planets met in an emergency meeting and tried to mediate between both factions. The torians demanded those responsible to be turned over while the Korx demanded "protection fees" so something like that never happened again, through the meeting accusations were made and no progress was done. Towards the end the Torians accused the Terrans for being behind it so they could reclaim the Borderworlds, Terran Representative Mark Bowden said the idea was silly and stupid they left the meeting, after more hours of arguing the Torians left the meeting and did the Korx. Mysteriously 3 hours later the Korx Transport carrying their diplomats exploded. The next day the Domion of Korx declared war on the Torian Confederation, the Torian Confederation had a strong fleet but it would take weeks for the bulk of it to be transferred from the Borderworlds to the other side of their Empire. In two weeks the Korx had penetrated as far as the Inner Core, at the pace they were going it would take the Korx 3 days to reach Toria IV. As the Torian-Korx war raged the Terrans sat on the sidelines watching. President Laura Roslin gave to order and on February 5th 2231:600 hrs Zulu Time the Terran Confederation Declared war on the Torian Confederation. Inresponse to unmitigated declarance of war, the United Planets condemned the Terran Attack, Roslin waved the statement aside and order Fleet Admiral George Turner to push the Torians out of the Borderworlds region but not to cross into Torian Space unless it seemed utterly necessary.

So on February 6th Admiral Helena "Stinger" Cain lead the 62nd Battlegroup into the borderworlds, spearheading the assualt where 3 brand new Concordia Class Battlecruisers in the Battlegroup, in their first battle, The Battle of Amcor VI the Battlecruisers destroyed 3 Torian Heavy fighters with little help from their escorts. The Battle of Amcor VI allowed for the construction of more Concordia Class Battlecruisers. Fleet Admiral George Turner then ordered Admiral Cain' to push deeper into the borderworlds and to take the Zeus System. In 2 dasy Cain had pushed the Torians out of the Borderworlds and "Stung" them pretty badly. In March of 2231 Cain's flagship the TCS Concordia captured a neutral freighter in the Zeus system while on routine patrol. It turned out the freighter belong to a mysterious race called The Krynn Consulate, the freighter's captain in exchange for his crews safety and freedom gave Cain a map of the nearby sectors and the locations of important Torian Bases. The freighter was let go and in the following weeks Cain's fleet launched hit and run attacks on important shipping lanes and bases that belonged to the Torians. By the end of March the Korx front had been stabilized, the Torians then shifted their forces to the Terran front where they launched a three prong attack against Cain's fleet attempting to destroy it and retake the Borderworlds. Cain was ordered to pull back her fleet to the Amcor System and allow the Torians to enter the region so the 63rd Battlegroup under the command of Commodore Bill Stevens could sneak behind them and encircle them. On April 1st 2231 Cain jumped into the Amcor System and to her horror found the Torians waiting for her, after 2 weeks of nonstop combat Cain pulled out of Amcor and fell back to the Hastias System. Stevens Battlegroup jumped into Zeus system to find it crawling with Torians, inless than 2 hours stevens battlegroup had been destroyed. The series of battles would be known as the Borderworlds Campaign, a disastrous campaign for the Terrans as 20 ships had been lost in only 2 battles. 

 

The week after the Disaster at Zeus the Torians pushed into Terran Space destroying anything that got in their path. Cain's fleet or what remained got locked in the Hastias System harassed almost everyday by the Torians, Fleet Admiral Turner faced a dilemma, in 2 weeks 5 fleets had been obliterated and only the Sol Sector Defense Fleet was the closest fleet that could stop the Torians but if the Home fleet was sent into action Sol would be vulnerable. But Turner to the risk and in 3 more weeks of slugging back and forth the Torians were being pushed back out of the Inner core, supply ships were able to relieve Cain in the Hastias System and The Confederate Fleet was able to make progress. By May the Torians had been pushed out of Terran Space except a fleet of Torian ships that refused to budge from the Cobra System.

**GNN News Report** Welcome ladies and gentlemen to the evening news, i'm Matt Campagna. In the last several weeks major progress has been made by the Confederate Fleet in pushing out the Torians from the Inner core. Yesterday as the 67th Torian Battlegroup punctured the Inner core defensive lines Admiral Cain's fleet was relieved by Admiral Hayden's 4th fleet, the combined power of both fleets allowed for a breakout from the Hastias System and cut off the Torian Battlegroup. The Torians have retreated as a result of that except for a Torian Battlegroup which is bottled up in the Cobra System, The Confed High Command says the Torians have a strong fleet and numerous divisions on the surface of Cobra II. The situation on the border has stabilized except for residual pockets of Torian Resistance, more coming up after this commercial break.**Gnn News Report**

 

May 16th 2231 Admiral Cain's 62nd Battlegroup and Commander Bridges 34th Squadron launched an all out assault on the Cobra System. It was a magnificent sight, Torian Heavy fighters and battleships hurled themselves at the Confed ships but were mowed down by laser and mass driver fire. The Torian Flagship, Kira'koria rammed into the TCS Venture a Luna Class Destroyer. The Torians put up a valiant defense but in the end it was over, their armour and point defense was no match for the Confed Turbolaser Fire and their weapons could not penetrate the Confed shields. After the Torian Flagship went down Torian fighters swarmed the TCS Concordia diving into the ship (kamikaze attacks) hoping to damage it in some way but nothing could be done Cain stood on the bridge looking out the viewport as countless ships rammed into her ship and disintegrated upon impact. By May 18th the Torian Fleet was wiped out and Confed Transports began landing on Cobra II. The Cobra system was taken back by the end of may and almost no Torian ship remained inside of Confederate Space. The Confed fleet was amassed on the border fending off assaults made by the Torians, on June 1st 2231 President Laura Roslin ordered Fleet Admiral Turner to launch an all out invasion of the Torian Confederation. At half past midnight 1200 ships crossed the border among them some of the newest Warlock Class Frigates, Lexington Class Fleet Carriers, and Concordia Class Battlecruisers. The Torian defenders were caught from all angles and massacred by the thousands. By June 7th the Terran fleets met up with the Korxian ships and prepared to launch a joint assault on the Torian Inner core. By this point the Torian economy had collapsed, over half their industrial planets were in enemy hands and their fleet was in shambles. The remainder of their fleet, about a couple hundred fighters, dozen or so battleships, 3 or 4 carriers and auxillary ships prepared for the onslaught but before the final fight began the Torian Chancellor proposed peace talks between the three powers. An armistice was signed and everybody pulled back to their perspective territory until a peace treaty was finalized. On July 4th 2231 the Treaty of Brindle VI was signed ending hostilities, the Torians had to pay the Korx 2300BC and the Confed agreed to help the Torians rebuild their economy and shattered Government.

 

The rest of 2231 was quiet and peaceful, the Torians and Confeds rebuilded and the Korx became isolationists. On December 7th 2231 the Confed made contact with The Drengin Empire, the Drengins were hostile to the Humans but nothing happened. The Galaxy was at peace, or so they thought.
