difference between toxic atmosphere reductor and advanced one?

Hi,

 

I just bought copy from steam and enjoying myself at the moment,

 

quick question though,

 

what is difference between 'toxic atmosphere reductor' and 'advanced toxic atmosphere reductor'?

 

I can colonise fine with the first one and upgrading to latter does not seem to change anything (i gained no more land to build on)

 

description says toxic atmosphere only allows partial colonisation whereas the latter fully utilises the planet.

 

does that mean it is better to wait until advanced toxic atmosphere reductor before i colonise the planet?

With the basic level of that tech you only got half military and social production, with the advanced level on top of that you get full production.

I believe I once had the advanced colonization tech for some planet type but not the basic (captured or traded it or something).  IIRC, it gave me 50% just as if I had only the basic one.  I had to get the basic one to get the full 100%.
