Presentationfontcache.exe....pegging my cpu at 50%!!

Microsoft.Net/Framework64/v.3.0

I've had to kill the process twice in order to get it to stop. Can I safely get rid of it?

If it is a NET problem, try the MS repair tool. LINK

No if Wiz. I checked it through system explorer. It tells you where the process is coming from. That's how I found out. Thanks for the link. Gonna check it out now. All done. Gonna reboot and see ya in a little bit. The tool suggested that I un-install the latest update and re-install it. Did that then ran the repair tool. It seems to have worked...so far. Did a reboot and...well...we'll see. Thanks again Wiz.

Such is life. When i got it home and turned it on there it was again, .net v. 3.0. I un-installed the latest update and that wasn't it. So I went into the windows folder and found the culprit, took ownership, it said after I tried to delete it that I needed permission from the trusted installer, whatever that is. By taking ownership I was able to delete it. Now my cpu is back to normal. The tool didn't work either. Go figure.

You're welcome. Sorry the tool didn't do it for you but I'm glad you did get it sorted out.

So am I Wiz. Funny how it kept coming back after killing it one time. Had to do it twice. Guess Microstuff added a built in 'no...don't...stop' type thingy. lol

Ross if you ever get it back again you really don't have to delete it. My sister had this problem about 6 months ago and I fixed it just be disabling it and didn't even have to delete it. In case you have a problem again you may want to save this link.
