If we stop by in person to get our Kol model signed by the team ... do we get a box?!

I might be able to give you a cardboard box.  :P

You sir have a deal!

I don't see how this has anything to do with shipping costs, what I see happened is you promising us the CE box to cheaply and that as a small company you can't afford to offer it at that price.

That's OK, I understand and forgive you for your mistake. :)

Now please give us real collectors an option to order the proper CE in a box at the appropriate price. :)

Quoting ezeltje299, reply 12Nooo don't do it at 8 october D: Do it a few days later!!!(Paypal takes a week to transfer money to them D:(If possible to buy with paypal at all)

Anyway, this is AMAZING! Very well done!  If i get to be lucky enough I'll definetly buy the kol model bundle or mousepad bundle

(Btw, is there a chance extra costs will come onto that price at our borders here in europe? Would suck if the price suddenly rises due to borders and it gets send back...)

My understanding is that you'll probably need to pay VAT?

do you have any idea how much that VAT will be on top of the price+shipping costs?? or if it is already calculated into the price? ;o or if it will come at all?

I don't - it's not something we have in the U.S., so we're not very familiar with it.  It's not calculated into the cost on our side since we don't collect it.

Quoting AgentExeider, reply 13Yarlen,

What if someone, namely me is like DAMN THE SAVINGS I WANT MY BOX DAMN IT!!!!

I had it preordered and it was canceled, so now I have to order again, and I want EVERYTHING! I didn't care that I was paying like 90+ Dollars, I want my whole complete CE with everything including all Packaging.

How do I go about getting that.

EDIT: BTW, if I CAN'T get my box, I am going to personally kick the asses of every whiny little B!&*H A$& who complained about the shipping costs and screwed me out of my box.

EDIT2: Sorry to be so angry but I was looking forward to a complete unopened CE with box, and it doesn't look like there is an option for that now, AND my Preorder was canceled, so now I have to reorder from a diminished set of options. I want my box, take my money!!!

Sorry, but you'll probably need to do some ass kicking.  The box was uber-expensive (like $26), so without making the bundle changes, we were actually going to be losing our shirts pretty bad.

Then offer a version with the box, seriously I don't get why Stardock listerened to people winging about high price and didn't think "maybe some people want the proper full collectors set". Since your offering 3 lower priced versions now as well theres even more reason to offer the full collectors with box and all, then if people cant afford it they get the cheap ones.

EDIT: Just thinking, for the full collectors edition with box, maybe the devs can sign it (something in the set, upto you guys), as a n extra for those paying extra?

Just an idea :-)

Well I don't know why a box is such a big deal to you guys. I wanted the goodies, not a nice $26 box that I would throw away the next day. Thanks for the price decrease! Though I'll probably have to wait and ask for it for Christmas...

I would pay another $26 to get a Collector's Edition box with the signatures of the game makers on it...

Though I am also glad for this strategic maneuver by Starclad in cutting the box and $26 off the price and splitting the Collector's Edition into packages. I am glad see that this has pleased many people and I hope that they sell more than they did with the full collector's edition (in the end I think they managed to sell 500 of them). I really want there to be a Sins 2 collector's edition.

that was pre-order where you could only pay with creditcards, but soon we will be able to with paypal as well I believe :D

and thanks yarlen for responding, I guess I'll just find out once it arrives(If i'm quick enough that not everything is gone already >.<)

Aww, no discount for existing owners of the games? I think the price will be far too high for me

$59 + $29S+H = £57.24 (Paypal conversion)

20% VAT (£68.68)

£12 customs admin fee (£80.68)

All for a very fancy version of a single expansion. Oh wait, the KEY for the game isn't even included, so it's just the edition without the game even...

You are suppose to have the game already. And the prices are at cost. No profit for StarClad for this.

Supposed to? The last expansion is still £25 here, that's still a huge, whopping NO at that price.

The large price has pushed me off the fence, additional costs (customs blackmail/fees) being the main reason. Having the expansion might have pulled me back on, but I just can't justify it, sorry. Shame as I was tempted.

The Collector's Edition is a 'Physical Content Pack' upgrade for your 'Sins of a Solar Empire: Rebellion' game?

Alright for sake of argument, the collector's edition is just extra swag, but a not playable game. So if you buy this, how much for an activation key to play said game...? I mean if people held off until the collector's edition came out to play the game, they are going to have to pay extra just to play the included DVD-Rom....?

Quoting boshimi336, reply 38

O.K. So why include a DVD-Rom if you can't play unless you already bought through Steam. What about people who waited to buy this, and now they have to pay more just to play?

So that you don't have to use up some of your bandwidth limit every time you want to install the game, and can instead install it off the DVD?

Installing of the DVD is much faster, and saves Bandwidth, which, believe it or not, is something a number of people have problems with.

Valid point, but what it sounds like to me is that if you buy the collector's edition(CE), you then have to buy the Steam activation to run it.

Hence, you buying the game twice, or am I wrong...?

nope you are correct, you basicly pay CE+ the game game from steam. but the CE does give lots of goodies so it's worth it i guess ;p

nope you are correct, you basically pay CE+ the game from steam.

If that is the case, then I have a problem. If I am going to buy a game twice, I should get the DVD-Rom with no DRM so I can play whenever I want without using Steam like the original Sins+Expansions...

Buying Rebellion and then CE and I still got to use Steam to play, I can't do it. They are some people(me), would buy the CE if it cost 100.00 bucks, the swag is worth it. But then you tell me that if I buy CE, I then still got to pay more to play it by buying a Steam activation code is IMHO over the top. You buying a game twice and still got to use Steam. I can't do it and I really love this game.....

I wanted the box too :( and that leads me to my next question. Yarlen, is their any truth to the rumor (which I just made up right here and now ;)) that due to the lengthy wait and change in the pretty box, that something like a free Sins tshirt will be sent to us to make up for things? Just wondering if that could be true or not? :3

That is not true, but I've heard that folks who had a pre-order are getting a Stardock coupon with their email confirmation.

The steam activation code is not part of the CE. The collectors edition is ONLY for the goodies. It does not allow you to play the game. In fact I think its required that you already own Rebellion to get the Collectors edition. You're not getting two steam activations.

Alright, how bout this, and it's probably too late. For people who has not bought Rebellion yet, they should offer the CE at a higher price which should include a Steam activation code where at least (to Me), it doesn't  seem you buying the game twice.

I mean,  call me anal about this, but buying Rebellion and then buying CE and you get a DVD-Rom but you still got to use Steam to update the game.

I can understand Bandwidth issues, and the DVD is faster and all that but the main thing is if you have problems with bandwidth or ISP issues, YOU CAN'T PLAY THE GAME UNTIL YOU RESOLVE THOSE ISSUE'S AND CONNECT TO STEAM TO PLAY YOUR GAME....

Again, what's the real point of including the DVD-ROM if you still have to connect online to Steam. When I bought original Sins at Target (Tarjay), I did not have a ISP because I just moved up from Tennessee and I was on a list to wait for them to come to the house and hook up. But I could play the game. You can't do that with Rebellion CE...If it was 2008 and Rebellion came out I would not have bought it because you need an internet connection just to play a single player game....

First, I'm staying up till 5 am to play Rebellion.  Which makes me grumpy the next day until I can sit down to play again until 5 am.

Second, I really think just publishing art work we can print and wrap around a suitable box will solve the problem.  What format does Kinkos or some other national/international player work with?  I remember years ago someone in our company taking Pagemaker files on a diskette (yes that long ago) to Kinkos and the printed full size pre-production prints of our boxes, folders and brochures.    I would have to believe we could load practically any popular format in use today on a thumb drive (or even email it to them) and they could print it in hi-def glossy wonderfulness.   :smitten:

And of course there is a third option: fan art.  I've already seen some beautiful work on this forum from crazy good artists that are way too humble.  Maybe we could co-op some of that existing beauty and wrap it around an official-unofficial box.  Or forum members could post their box wrapping solution and we could download our favorites.

I swear to all my brethren (who like me "must haves") that I dearly wanted this box.  The question is since that is not going to happen how do we mod this situation to our liking?

I leave you now as my daughter has yelled from the bathroom that she is "done" on the potty.

Uneasy lies the head that wears a crown.

Hey, um.... I just got an email from Stardock saying that my payment failed for the Collector's Edition.  I don't exaclty know how or why this happened, seeming as how I preordered the thing almost immediately.  Any suggestions, or should I just hold off until the 15th to reorder?

perhaps you did not confirm your pre-order in the last week, I have received an email from stardock store thanking me for shopping in the stardock store and inside the email it mentioned the rebellion CE.

but regarding your question regarding the re-order, the options are to wait to the fifteenth or wait to the fifteenth or do not re-order.

hope this helps
