I'd uninstall it, run a reg cleaner  and reinstall.

I would unload DX and configure it to prevent it from running on boot, and run  chkdsk /f /r  (cmd>Run as Administrator).

If you can't prevent it from running, boot to safe mode and then run the chkdsk /f /r as above.

Happens to me every so often. Wiz's way works.

I send you well wishes. When I start getting that 'BEX' error I usually end up re-installing window. Granted though, never tried Wiz's suggestion. Please let us know if it works.

normal, random DX behavior for YEARS now.

Ok getting back to everybody this is what I found; I started by removing desktop completely with revo uninstaller its free version great software. First by using it to uninstall with normal uninstall program that comes associated with desktop then using second advance option in revo to remove all of leftover file of desktopx from everywhere in registry finally very important the catch is two file that are left running in the back ground that are associated with desktopx that can not be removed until you reboot revo will do this so reboot then reinstall dektopx and it works just fine. Problem is two file one menu64.dll or something like that and a second file as well  I’m sorry I did not write them down but those two file are running in the background and causing desktopx to crash while they keep running. So that’s the problem how to get it not to happen that’s another story I don’t know? If it keeps happening I just won’t mess with desktopx. Hope this helps. jg

Glad you got it fixed. Revo is a great program. It's all I use to uninstall with. Add/Remove leaves way too much junk behind.

For the record though, I have been using DX and testing themes/widgets since 2008  on Vista and Win7 and I have never seen that error.

It's only started happening for me this year - win7 74bit I think, and me generally doing weird stuff with DesktopX triggered it. I'll try Revo next time it happens!

74 bit?   o_O

Anyway...I guess it's my turn. I was working on a DX last night, turned off the PC, as I always do, today, no Desktopx, no error. Just won't run.

Time to reinstall....sigh.... :annoyed:

It did...always does.

I have to uninstall with YU Pro. Run ASC Pro to clean the registry. Reboot. Install DX. Reboot. All is well.

Happens every month or so.
