TEC Rebels vs. Advent

I was very frustrated with this matchup as unless I was in rush position I found it a very tough nut to crack. The key seems to be unit micro, which is pretty foreign for most TEC eco players. Just a few tips on winning large engagements (titan, 3-4 caps, 50+ bombers and 100+ frigates with support cruisers). You need mid-level caps for this, so either wait until you have the credits to buy levels to attack or delay truce among rogues and creep a bit.

Against advent carrier spam you need 2 level 3 Koi casting flak (buy the 2 levels, manual cast at beginning). Robots near them to repair and that way the hoshikos don't die. A bit of flak to help mop up is nice if you have the fleet space.

Dunov's EMP (ideally level 3 ship with level 2 EMP at least) is very synergistic with the Ragnarov titan's great snipe ability: pick a cap in the middle of the battleball, snipe, EMP then snipe again. If you have upgraded cielos then you can designate target as well if you want. Cap should be dead and all of the stuff around it will have no shields. Follow with scattershot to kill much of the battleball outright (including guardians after which repulse is no longer an issue) and leave the rest with no shields, no AM (for caps and carriers) and no armor. A skilled advent will run his cap out of formation after first snipe, but akkan's ion bolt can lock it down. The cherry here is that doing this a couple times levels your titan very quickly, and once it get ultimate ability this becomes even deadlier. Ideal if you can catch him trying to get a malice combo off. If you mess it up, have akkan cast armistice and run.

Send corvettes/cobalts at his carriers at the edge of the grav well if he chooses to keep them there.

LRFs don't really work against advent unless he is spamming disciples and/or illums. Kodiaks and flak do work if you can keep hoshikos alive (dunov and more flak) but take a while to get the job done. However, upgrade missile damage anyway as it is the path to novas and helps your bombers.

Xenophobia tech really helps deal with Advent natural culture push.

You can also just build fighters instead of bombers...you just have to widdle down the bombers first, that is their most worrisome form of firepower...after that, snipe and EMP can help knock out guardians, caps, and the titan....fleet composition is dependent on what they have but don't underestimate the power of fighters...as a hardcore AR player, the worse thing I usually face is a ragnorav supported by carriers with fighters....you can't bomber spam effectively, and you can't kill the carriers with disciples easily because of scatter shot...you basically have to dock your bombers and shoot done the fighters with flak, relying on lots and lots of guardians to keep the ragnorav away from your fleet and titan (which is hard since it has great range)...

Eradica is pretty damn good, but I'd say the Ragnarov is probably better...the only thing that gives the Eradica an edge is that Advent are coupling it with malice and repulse....take out guardians and the prog, and the Advent fleet is not too hard to crack unless there is a massive difference in titan level...

Any advent fleet with guardians is bad news.. they will just shift the balance of power and make you fail in your attacks, whether it be snipe/scatter and rail gun. They will repulse and absorb damage while the other caps weaken you with abilities.

yeah, I like to sneak in LRMs once the battle starts to snipe guardians. Just need to keep them away from advent cap combos. I've been keeping a roughly 50/50 fighter bomber mix, might try to up # of fighters and see what happens, as the question is can your fleet survive until the bombers are dead and the carriers & caps have no more AM.

How good is the TEC sb ability that gives it hull repair and AM regen. Especially when paired with lvl 6 dunov I imagine this would let you spam flak burst/finest hour ad nauseum on your KOIs.

I think it is underrated...I always get it unless I'm using RB (which I actually hardly ever do), as it makes your caps and structures particularly hard to kill...the only issue is ogrovs, because if you pick resupply and weapon upgrades then you don't have the squadrons to deal with ogrovs alone...you will have to have corvettes or fighters from other sources (which you may or may not have)...

Docking boons is the second least useful upgrade on the starbase. As tec with 5 military labs, you should have the vastly superiour big red button. if you fleet is in range of docking boons, then your enemy is in the same well as you, thus big red button will do a better job of killing their fleet.

That doesn't always work in practice...for one, most players will use bomber spam to deal with any SB, so at best you are just going to kill a bunch of enemy SC...worse case, you lose your structures and any ships nearby....sometimes you also need the SB to be there...

If the SB was specifiically placed to RB incoming fleets (or discourage them from jumping in the first place) thats one thing...but if the SB is there to protect your planet from bombardment or your structres/fleet in suicide spot, for example, RB really isn't a great option...
