Happened while playing on a Random Huge-Multi map.  I was attacking a strong pirate base as a vasari rebel using my titan, a starbase, 6 capital ships, and a lot of frigates.  dont know how many.  i think i was about 3 and a half hours into the game.

there are a couple of other threads on this.  If it produces a dump or is reproducible from a save game, the team wants to know about it.  Thus far (to the best of my knowledge) this issue hasn't been tracked down...
