Tec R super powerful...

Build an Akkan and several colonizers.

Build 4 civilian labs

Research neutral and pirate alliances

Colonize undisputed.

I was playing on a huge multi map. I had 25 planets by the time the first AI I met had 6.

By the time they had 8, I had a titan with Kols backing them up, and steamrolled them one by one.

Try harder AIs.

I played against 2 unfair AIs two days ago, was TEC rebel, too.

I built 2 Akkans right off the bat, went to colonize the galaxy. By the time I met the first enemy resistance I was inhabitating more then 75% of the (1 star) system.

I did not research TAR (truce among rogues). This is not a problem with the research, but a problem with the AI being horribly slow with getting started earlygame. This persisted since the original sins as far as I know.

You can even pretty much ignore most planets close to your homeworld, rush for the key chokepoints, set up there and camp the AI in within his three or four planet starting area. The only AI that is a little resitant to this is the agressive one, since it expands quite fast and spams fleet a lot.

Well so far I need a cruel AI if I want a challenge that can be compared to what the AI on hard used to be in diplomacy. And I assume I haven't gotten that much better by not playing at all for some time ;).

Cruel AI seems to be quite alot stronger than the unfair one, unfair is only like the normal AI. Also it tends to stick to using capitals, while the cruel AI at least for the bigger part will also build frigates.

So yeah, known issue that the AI is quite harmless at the moment. But just because you can do this against the AI at the moment, won't mean it's broken.

Learning AI vs JJ.  After 100 matches, set resultant AI to Vicious.  Lower ranked AI's perform less micromanagement and and perform tasks slower.  Would never happen, but still.

Oh, OK.

Play Vicious AI and report back. Also put your Akklan against a well-defended Desert or Terrain world and see how it perfroms without Repair Bays.

Vicious is only hard because it has way more income than you.  It's not efficient at all or smart.  My point was that the AI was stupid, even if it is rich.

Aside from that, I play Vasari almost exclusively so there's that.  Beyond that, why would you take an Akkan without a sizeable fleet along with it?  Targeting Uplink is a fleet ability, particularly for the LRM, Orgovs, and flak.  Ion Bolt is useful situationally, but on the attack, it's not that useful unless your opponent is getting ready to use something super powerful.

Was that directed to me?

FYI: Vicious AI has as much starting income as you do. Vicious AI is as good as AI gets, thus, if you want to see how good you are against the AI, you should play against Vicious AI.

Now, back to OP: he/she stated that Akklan and 4 colony ships were enough to conquer the whole system. Counter to that was that he should try those shenanigans against a harder AI or see how his Akklan performs against a well-defended planet with a militia fleet.

If it were not directed to me, then sorry.

It was directed at you, but your statement about the vicious having the same income as you is incorrect.  It has significantly more income.  I forget the actual figures, but it was something like 6-8 times what humans (and normal AI's) get.

Remarkably well, infact. You blow up the two to three siege frigs, take that planet over, plant a repair bay and two gun platforms. Now watch your 30% Akkan gain HP fast while enemy ships die in quick succession.

Edit: Unless you mean a planet taken by a player and well-defended, in that case: Ogrovs solve, also support carriers.

I don't get people who complain about TAR they lose out on alot of valuable XP. Its really nothing more than a trade off. A high leveled Akkan is amazing. But if you research TAR you cannot get this as fast unless you farm off an enemy. While you have your level 2 Akkan, I will have my level 6 Progenitor and level 4 Discord.
