Demonstrated racial bias by Stardock.
When creating a custom sovereign, the player is given a choice of skin color. No such option exists for any other unit. All other units, without exception, are Caucasian.

True enough. Fantasy races don't have to be the equivalent of real races ... I only found the lack of Melanin intriguing.
I wouldn't normally comment on something as ridiculous as this topic. But the irony is too much to ignore.
The monsters, creatures, and races you see in Elemental were *designed* and *concepted* by Leo and Akil who are Chinese and African American respectively. Specifically, 100% of it.
The races and beings of Elemental come in all shapes, sizes and colors. If someone wants to have more visual controls on the unit designer, just ask.
Stardock doesn't really care about the pigment you humans have. Once the Drengin conquest is complete, you will all be slavelings anyway.
Also, 1 in 17,000, or 0.0059% of units should be albino... just sayin...
I honestly assumed that there was little sunlight in the realm and thus there was little pigmentation. The only meaning that can be added to the story with more pigment is hotter apparent climates. If this world was all of the same pigmentation, we would still have race issues, we would just find a different way to differentiate the races.
Ex: Paridians despise Tarthans, which can be clearly recognized by their scraggly hair and tattoos. See, no color difference required.
On a side note, you may be able to change the race color in the xml, and gingers are represented in the game. Check your facts people! The fate of Zimmerman is clearly riding on this game!
"...Speciesism was more interesting. Black and white lived in perfect harmony, and ganged up on green."
The delegate from Mars strongly protests the lack of characters with 12 eyes.
How is Stardock's bias with people from Ohio?
Hi Seanw3 to my knowledge you can have a ginger sovereign but you can't change the hair colour of trained units, just the styles - therefore our ginger friends are sorely underepresented
- while I'm on the topic I must say I'm outraged by the distinct lack of ginger headed smiles in the message tools
I know man, all smileys are yellow ... whats up with that! Racist Simpsons?
This is actually quite interesting. If the entire continent was under the same climate, then its quite possible that all races/cultures of the Human species in that area would have the same pigmentation.
Assuming, of course, that there was no source of migration between the continents. (or that there were humans on any of the other continents).
Assuming homogenous climate and Isolated continent, it is quite possible that all human races in that environment would be of the same pigmentation. And if there is a distinct lack of sunlight, then it would make sense for them to be something similar to the Caucasians of earth.
There's also the assumption that these people are homo sapiens. Seldom does a fantasy build upon evolution for its backstory. What fun would that be?
Amaaaazingly fun?
But I thought Drengin cared about skin more then anything else, it's the tastiest part right?
Now that you mention it, I would like that (not in any politically-charged sort of way, just because it would be another option for customisation, and that's always good). It's pretty low down the priority list, but if it were possible I'd get a kick out of it. The unit designer gives a lot of options for customising abilities after all, it would be nice to be able to portray some of these widely-varied units as being drawn from far corners of the empire or from subjugated races.
Also, as wary as I was of reading this topic, it has actually proved very entertaining!
I agree for more visual controls on the unit designer.
I want my Kraxis armies to use Nubian mercenaries ... and for my Capitar army to be mainly composed of mexican immigrants.
-----------
But yea, skin color for different units might add a further element on unit distinction than simply "Different Card pose"
It's not easy being green.
Really-- playing the race card in a game. Pathetic, so are you the racist Al Sharpten of the gaming world.
I'm too lazy to hand out all the karma deserved in this post . . I may have to poke the database guys to do it for me though. So much is deserved.
:')
Political Correctness is the bane of this nation and should be opposed anywhere it shows it's ugly head.
Can we stop administering blunt trauma any time, soon? One post of correction was sufficient. The rest is just pile-on, and it ain't pretty.

Personally I'm offended by your bias towards humans while there has yet to be a screenshot of a purple dinosaur amongst all the red dinosaur screenshots even though its a fact proven by the 2010 Census that purple dinosaurs make up the majority of imaginary dinosaur races.
Not to mention, they make the most delicious of beverages:

No handicapped characters? Have you ever had a champion for over 100 turns, Helen Keller is a ninja in comparison.
There actually is a gay character in one of the quests. Brad had offered a bunch of quest ideas, short notes on the idea of the quest, steps and a reward. They were all good but I thought one implied a gay character. I don't know if if it was just a casual pronoun or if I was reading to much into the implied relationship between the two characters, but I thought it was cool and added the quest.
I also suspect that the Crag Spawns are catholic.
If you're from Michigan, you'll know that if any MI-based company hires somebody from Ohio, they cannot legally be charged with any form of bias, whatsoever.
What, they show up in groups of threes, and launch holy water ranged attacks? Mitre smites? Leech health points by forced tithing of victims?
