I have not seen boarding party work once since the 1a phase started. I have seen a couple of threads about it but it still isn't on the known issues list. AFAIK this feature appears to be broken.
in .61 it seems like the ability lasts for much less time than the tool tip states. while hovering over a targeted ship, the infocard stated the enemy ship was taking the proper amount of damage for about 3 - 4 seconds, as opposed to 10 - 13 seconds (depending on level) so it was very difficult to get the timing right. I was able to capture 1 ship during a game against the AI but that's it.
Admittedly, when the beta first came out, I had an incorrect understanding of the ability but after getting help on the forums, I was able to reliably capture ships manually or with autocast. I hadn't used the corsev in .61 until last night but I definitely noticed it.
As far as I know the only thing they changed about the Boarding Party ability is the fact that you can no longer capture enemy structures (they can be destroyed with this ability though).
