From personal experience, a spoonful of sugar really does cure the hiccups...in fact, for me, that is the only thing that will stop them.

Oatmeal, when eaten, is good for several things:  it helps to lower the cholesterol some if eaten regularly; and, for me personally, it is the mainstay of my diet in helping to keep my IBS at bay.  Oatmeal provides fiber in the diet...it is water-soluble fiber; it is relatively high in protein.
