I'm Alive

I'm Alive

Anyone around here still remember me?

Any of my old Skinz.org buddys still hanging around here?

I've been gone for about a decade now. I used to make some litestep themes back in the day, mostly collaborations with other skinners like Dangeruss, Treetog, and Crumbut. I also used to moderate wallpaper submissions on Skinz.org back when it was still brown.

I recently found my old copy of Object Desktop 2000 CD (yeah I actually bought it on CD). Of course, my old Stardock Component Manager serial number didn't work. (Anyone remember Component Manager?) So I'm thinking of getting back into skinning again and was wondering how the community has been doing.

What are the most recent trends in skinning?

Which programs are people using the most now?

Is there any chance of getting a renewal or upgrade price for Object Desktop based off my old registration code from 10 years ago ('cause I'm a broke-ass college student now)?

Will any of my old skins that I have been saving on a CD all these many many years still work with the newest version of Windowblinds; and if not is there an easy way to update them to the newer version?

If you remember me, say "Hi". I'll probably remember you too  .

OK, I found out how to change the user name on my old account, yay!

Now how do I change the e-mail address? The one on here is the old Dangeruss-Industries e-mail account I had, and it's no longer available. Or is there no way to change the e-mail address that the account is set up with originally?  I hope that's not the case, because even the e-mail on the other account I created this thread with is an old one that I don't use any longer either . . .
End of DevenDmer's quote

Probably going to have to email [email protected] on that one Deven. :)

OK, I have another question, didn't feel the need to make a new thread for this though, so I'm just posting it here.

There are 3 versions of DesktopX listed on the purchasing page. The cheapest is the "client" version which makes no reference to being able to create your own objects with it. the second version ("Standard") mentions that you can make objects with VB or Jscript. My question is, do you need the Standard version in order to create objects or does the Client version have that capability as well, but just not with the help of VB/Jscript? And which version is included with the Object Desktop package?

Thanks in advance for the help

The client version allows you to use desktopx themes, objects and widgets as they are. You can't make any changes. You can't create anything. Pretty much just a runtime.

Standard will allow you to make objects, widgets, and will allow you to make your own desktops, or change ones you download.

Pro will allow you to do all the above, and it'll let you create gadgets and windows sidebar gadgets.

Standard comes with ObjectDesktop.

Cool, that's what I was hopeful for. I think I will start off skinning that first since it seems the closest thing to LiteStep around. Just gotta wait for support to change my e-mail so I can buy the suite.

Thanks for the quick response, Redneckdude. :star:

I didn't receive any reply to my request to change my e-mail on this account from support yet, so I guess I won't be able to buy object desktop until at least monday.  :'(
